    Manpower is an easy one.

Option 1 - You have 200 guys and it's going to take you 2000 days to complete the project, assuming $100 per day per worker, that would be a total cost of $40,000,000.
Option 2 - You could increase your workforce to 2000 guys and it would only take 200 days, assuming $100 per day per worker, that would be a total cost of $40,000,000.

Option 1 finishes in just over 6 years, Option 2 finishes in less than 1 year.

My room mates mom's job in the early 90s was telling folks on the orange route not to develop their property. 25 years later it's "settled". At this pace, I will be able to fly over and land my car in a parking lot.

I have seen some waste in my time, but I would rather they make sure everyone stays safe and do not just try to rush something through.

Not really since there would have to be more levels of management for more employees, which raises the labor costs. It also raises the capital equipment costs.

No, if the work groups were set up to average the $100.00 per worker then the increased number of work groups could accomplish the same average. The capital expenses would not work out as well though.

If you drive on NC 50 heading from NC 42 north to Garner, you can see where a house has been torn down on right, and another White house that has a Property of NC sign out front. That's where 540 is coming thru. State has bought those houses already. Between Stephens Oaks and Grissom Farms.

I would bet we won't be able to drive from I-40/US-70 to NC-55 along the new NC-540 until at least 2023 at best.

    I'd agree. My guess
    Phase 1 (401 to 40) Start Jan 2019 ; Completion Jan 2023
Phase 2 (Pierce Olive Rd to 401) Start March 2019 ; Completion Fall 2022
Phase 3 (NC 55 to Pierce Olive) Start June 2019 ; Completion Fall 2021.

You may be able to go from current end @ NC 55 to 401 by Fall 2022. Then onto 40 by Early 2023. Anything will help commute for me.

We'll be lucky if the starting date has begun by the completion dates now shown. And how many millions of dollars will the price increase before they are completed?
