NC DOT Picks Orange Route for NC 540

Bridge Replacement. The current one is old and not wide enough to support the new wider road under construction below. I-40 will be a total of 8 lanes across under the bridge when they are complete in a few years.

 

I figured that but not sure how the widening affects that road, unless they plan on an exit/entrance on to I-40 or if they are planning widening White Oak/Cornwallis due to the expected more traffic with 540 coming across it with an exit/entrance from 540 to White Oak

 

the bridge that is white oak is not wide enough for the 8 lanes of 40 under it. so, bridge needs replaced.
