I've researched the Neat Desk Scanner and love what it does. You scan in your document and can then file it on your computer. The best part is you can search for the document based on any keywords.

BUT it is very expensive. Does anyone know of anything else (hardware and/or software) that would do the same thing for a lot less $$.

Of course, I would keep some very important paper documents, but many I would just use the Neat Desk for

You're pretty much buying software when you by the neat system. Their scanner is no different than any other auto feed scanner. If you do get the neat system, there is no bed feature for placed documents.

Most multi purpose printer/copy machines have auto feed and the same scan speeds. There's quite a few freeware programs that mimic the neat program. Search for "scanner organizer software".

    Thanks.

I knew there had to be something out there w/o costing a fortune!
