Hi, I've been and have also taken my children to both Dr. Riccobene's and Dr. Lane's at 40/42 and haven't had issues with either office. We had to switch a couple of times due to changes in my husband's insurance. We now see Dr. Mullen at his own practice and I agree with H6 - Jason is a wonderful dentist and great person in general. It makes a difference in how one practices medicine/dentistry if they are a decent human to begin with. I find it extremely helpful and reassuring to check the NCSBDE (NC State Board of Dental Examiners) and the NCMB (NC Medical Board) before I consider a health care provider. You are able to verify if the person's licensure is current and in good standing and the NCSBDE has a "Disciplinary Actions" tab that provides information on their most recent disciplinary cases. Before I became a stay at home mom full time I worked for the largest professional liability (malpractice) insurer in North Carolina and I learned A LOT about some people in our healthcare community. It never hurts to be too careful. Just sayin'. http://www.ncdentalboard.org/ http://www.ncmedboard.org/
Thanks to everyone for the great replies. I have an appt w/Dr. Mullen next week - fortunately for me they had a cancellation. Anyway, between the recommendations for him from here, a neighbor and a co-worker he sounds like what I'm looking for in a dentist. Plus he's a preferred provider with my insurance so that's a definite bonus cost wise. Anyway, any happy thoughts you can send my way for the crown to go smoothly this time would be very much appreciated. lol. Thanks again to everyone who replied!
Thanks H6 & Arogro...Dr. Mullen was great! I have definitely found a new dentist. I got the temp crown today and I did NOT even feel his shots. It was unbelievable. Previous dentists have felt like they were going through my jaw bone. lol. Dr. Mullen was extremely patient and when I asked him to explain each step of the process he said no problem (though he said most people don't want to know. lol) He kept checking that I was okay. His hygentist was equally friendly and beyond patient. When the numbing started wearing off he stopped everything and re-injected me. It was so nice not being told they have to finish & basically tough it out, like my previous dentist. Anyway, I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mullen - especially if you're a big chicken like I was about getting a crown. Oh, the lady at the front desk is super nice too.
He's the one on 42 at Pinecroft, right? By the DMV? If that's him, it doesn't hurt that he's easy to look at, does it??!
