Triangle Biz Journal had an article that the DQ bldg. was sold. The previous owner had bought for $2.4 million in 1999 and has sold for $1.8 million. It's a pay site so i can't post link.
I read that this morning: An aging strip mall in a high-traffic area of Johnston County has a new owner. An LLC tied to commercial real estate developer Woodhaven Development Group, which has offices in Raleigh and Charlotte, purchased the 1.8-acre Cleveland Commons strip mall at 5560-5596 Highway 42 W. for $1.85 million on Sept. 5, according to Johnston County deed records. The land is in a prime location near Interstate 40 in addition to N.C.Highway 42. The mall currently has numerous vacancies, as several tenants have closed in recent years. For example, Dairy Queen closed its doors in the strip mall in December 2022 after being in business for 24 years. It was one of the original tenants in the shopping center, which opened in 1998. Zack Kosofsky, a partner with Woodhaven Development Group, declined to comment on the developer's plans for the property. The previous owners, Garner-based Cleveland Village LLC, purchased the property in 1999 for more than $2.25 million, according to Johnston County deed records – meaning they bought the strip mall for around $400,000 more 24 years ago than they sold it this month. The Cleveland Commons strip mall isn't the only property in Johnston County that has changed hands recently. An LLC tied to Canadian real estate development company Great Gulf purchased more than 272 acres of land in Johnston County for around $14 million on Aug. 31, according to county deed records. The plot of land is near the small town of Wilson's Mills between Strickland Road and U.S. Highway 70 Business. Great Gulf is the third owner of that land, which has been marked for 850 homes as part of a large subdivision, in the last two years.

(1) Garner, NC - YouTube video from buckeye drones, same guy who has done those 540-drone video. this is Garner, shows a lot of the apartments going in at 70/Yeargan rd. and the VA clinic on 50.
Are they still planning this now with the new one going in at Tractor Supply instead of what I thought was a new center going in at Cornwallis/42?
my bid site shows that the renovation at 40/42 is in "contract" stage. So that usually means it is moving forward.
i wouldn't think so. that Cornwallis/42 shopping center has been off and on for many years. Food Lion must have got tired of waiting. They know a grocery store is needed on that side of 40.
The other day I was driving up 42 going past the Tractor supply and noticed a sign for a new Food lion going there. Where the house use to sit.
that was what post was about. the one being built by tractor supply, so no new one at Cornwallis & 42.
They are trying to be like Sheetz, one on every corner. Because driving 2 miles down the road is too far.
Yeah, me and the wife went cruising in the 4042 area for the first time in years this last year and there was Sheetz everywhere.
Nothing so far. Stakes are up and nothing else. Any word on whats going in next to Zaxby's in Erwin? Lots of construction going on. Someone said it was a Chick Fil A.
