Someone was saying it was going to be a Scooters Coffee. But I have not seen any confirmation on that

Researching both the owner (EJP III REAL ESTATE) and the owner address, I keep coming back to Handy Marts and gas stations (and EJ Pope Transport, which transports gasoline to gas stations).

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought. I've seen the rumors about a Scooter's Coffee, but never believe anything until there's proof.

Oh, but the other owner of the property (CWE-2 LLC) built a Dollar General in Rocky Mount. Sooo...

Edit: Just remembered there's already a Dollar General nearly across the street from this location. So I guess my point is: These two companies aren't associated with anything I'd be excited to see in the area. I guess we'll see.

My wife was right, the woods across Cornwallis from "Go play outside now" and to east of Old Drug store has been cut down.

All that land is owned by the guy with that tiny house on the farm on Old Drug Store Rd. I don't see anything about subdividing it, so maybe he's just selling the timber.

Joco permit number is 217520, still no more info than above. GC sign out front mainly does convenience stores.

The Wawa across from Old Drug Store and Veteran's Parkway is coming together! I stopped and talked to someone working on it (he didn't look busy), and he said it should be open before July 4th. Once this is open, they'll start on the Selma store. Then once that is done, they'll come back to build the one across from Wal-Mart.

Scooters Coffee has several jobs bidding soon, none in our area.

JoCo GIS has been updated to put the address points actually on the building now:
    16090 NC HWY 50 N - Jersey Mikes
    16094 NC HWY 50 N - Pet Supermarket
    16100 NC HWY 50 N - Publix

The second building has 4 business slots, but there are 5 address points left. Could WakeMed Urgent Care have two addresses since it's so large?
    16110 NC HWY 50 N - Available site?
    16114 NC HWY 50 N - Wing Stop?
    16118 NC HWY 50 N - Grand Nail Salon?
    16122 NC HWY 50 N - WakeMed Urgent Care?
    16126 NC HWY 50 N - ???

And then there are still the 3 outparcels.

It looked that way, but it had been full of people for several days, while still having a sign posted insisting they aren't open until today (6/4) at 10:45am. I suspect all the traffic we saw was invite-only, as practice for opening to the public. Yesterday at 5:30pm, the outside tables were FULL, but then I drove past about an hour later, and everyone was gone.

Anyway, the next big openings are Wawa (around July 4th) and Publix (probably July 16th [correction: July 28th], from what I've seen).

Looks like a franchisee group that owns dozens of Plant Fitness locations has purchased the land behind Outback Steakhouse and Popeyes Chicken located on Clayton Parkway. Per The Triangle Business Journal (6/6/2025 edition), the 3.5 acre plot sold for $1.6 million.
