The posts with the bikes bring back alot...

I hadn't thought about my 24-inch, green, 5-speed bike with the high-rise handle bars and banana seat for a long time. It had NO shocks and when riding on a dirt road, just about rattled your eye teeth out. Thanks, gang, for bringing back those memories.

But you know, there's still nothing like the "old-fashioned" single gear bike that you can get up to speed and lock down the brakes on a dirt path or dirt road and slide for a country mile, kicking up rocks and gravel.

To be able to slide that rear wheel around and end up pointing the opposite way took a little practice.

P.S. - I gotta add this. It just came to me.

I used to have a plastic bazooka that you could pump up and it would fire a tremendous blast of air. Well, being the mischieveous kid that I was, one of my aunts came by one day, and she had just gotten her hair done.

I mean, that hair-do was right. Hair sprayed, the whole bit.

Well, I pumped that bazooka up as tight as it would go and snuck up on my aunt and fired a round right at her head.

It looked just like something out of a cartoon with her hair all blowed out to one side!

My aunt was some kind of mad.

That little stunt deserved a whipping from my daddy but he was too busy laughing to get mad.

I'll leave it up to the group if you want to continue...

...with this topic, start a new one, or just let it fade in the sunset.

    My favorites:

    • A real rickshaw that my dad got somewhere overseas and had shipped home while he was away in the service. We had a blast with that thing.
    • Space shoes (red metal foot pads with huge springs on the bottom of them. You laced the foot pads to your feet like shoes)
    • Plastic soldiers. yep, I'm a girl but we had a blast playing with these. Each kid got a huge bag of them each summer on our first visit to the base pool.
    • Plastic Fred Flintstone and Barney figures. When we were in Belgium, we were bored stiff half the time and these were what we played with. They came in a bag of potato chips or something like that.
    • Thing Maker ( http://www.journalofantiques.com/Aug07/playing_around.html )

Magnolia: yep, had a ton of plastic soldiers, too. And also a Creepy Crawler maker. That thing made some neat bugs, etc. My female cousin had the "Flower-Child" version.

Seems like I remember a Fred and Barney bubble bath set I had. And who can forget, Mr. Bubble? Is that still around?

    The rickshaw sounds like fun.

Barbie was my thing. Dolls in general. I was very very prissy..always wore dresses...my daughter is so unlike me..doesn't own not one Barbie. We didn't play inside much..more outside then anything..that is mostly what I can remember is just playing outside. We didn't have alot of what kids have now..we had to play outside, ride bikes..play in the woods that kind of thing..man those were the days.

And that's the nice one. When it gets closer to election time, it will change often.
