New Interchange Planned Near I-40 And N.C. 42

The sentence I quoted:

is from the third paragraph of the article. Then it goes on to say they had considered an interchange at Cleveland Rd., in 2003, but thought that was too close to 42. Cornwallis crosses I-40 a couple of miles to the south (or East) of 42, and then ends at Old Drug Store Rd. Going the other way, Cornwallis changes to White Oak before it crosses I-40 again near the shopping center.

Travelling East on I-40, Cleveland Rd. is the first overpass after exit 312; Cornwallis is the second, then there's Sanders Rd, BH Parrish, and then exit 319, hwy 210. So it looks like they decided Cleveland Rd is too close, but Cornwallis would work.

 

It doesn't really matter where the SPUI is going to be located if there is not any money. Besides, planning for something like this will take approximately 10 years.

Google Maps calls it both Cornwallis Rd and White Oak Rd, though in Johnston County it's called ONLY Cornwallis Rd. Zoom out to get your bearings, if need be.

 

No more Interchanges, Please

No more Interchanges please. I40 is slow enough as it is. No need to put another access point within 5 miles of another.

you guys amaze me. Cornwallis Rd. for the future interchange is the road that goes by Cleveland Middle School and the go-cart track, & dips down where it goes by that big fishing pond & ends at Old Drug Store Rd. just before you get to Hwy 50.

apparently it's been determined that an interchange at Cleveland Rd. would be too close to exit 312, the infamous "40/42".

Oh, and JTM- I posted that same map link back on page 1 of this thread. I too thought it was crazy how badly they screwed up the naming of Cornwallis/White Oak. Then again, I can look at 3 different online mapping sites and they show my house in 3 very different locations, even changing the name of the town and the zip code on a couple of them.

 

They need to have these builders pay some impact fees to give the damn DOT some money to build this interchange. Its absolutely redicious trying to get to work in the morning

 

Oops, sorry Kelyel... I skimmed the first page of the thread and must have skipped over that link. And when several people still didn't seem to have a grasp of where we were talking about, I just assumed nobody had put a link to a map yet. Sorry!

Yes, it is where I40 crosses under Cornwallis Road at the Langdon Farm.

It is in the developmental stages. It does involve our property but I can not discuss at this time.
