Wednesdnay was my kitty's big day. He got neutered at the new clinic. It's called Saving Lives Spay/Neuter Animal Clinic. I definitely recommend them. I had to be there at 7 AM and picked him up at 5 PM. They gave him a rabies and a distemper shot and sent him home with pain meds. It was $30 for a male cat. Can't beat that price!

    Thanks!!!

http://www.pop-nc.com/services.htm you drop off in morning pick up in the early evening, they are a mobile unit and were located in a shopping center off 70 in garner ............sorry don't remember exact location but was in front of a pet shop. (new to area so don't know all the roads yet) oh you need apointment cause they only do it there 2 times a month I belive

check them out, I got my 2 chihuahua's and my toy fox terrier chuhuahua mix (see my avitar thats him) fixed same day the one chihuahua needed the shots which were included in the price , all did really well and I am so glad they got done the males were marking everything when she went into heat and would take off running each time they had the chance, another good reason for neutering is to control their hormones , they can smell a female in heat a mile away (or so I have been told) think of your beloved pet running to find her and getting hit by a car, that alone should be reason to get pet fixed it also is healthier for them . My male chihuahua is beautiful he's chocolate and marked perfectly but he's snipped cause there are enough pets in shelters, I wish i could wait till summer to get my mutt (5 mo old ) and peke a poo ( 3 mo old)done but i want them done before first heat because even though our yard is fenced we have alot of dogs that roam free and although I LOVE dogs ( I have 6) really don't want to worry about finding homes for puppies. Hope this helps those looking to get their pets spayed/neutered!

I will look into it as well, my male Chi (shown in at Avatar) isn't marking (yet), so soon I have to get this done.
He doesn't go outside much at all, so the chances of him running is very low.

my males were 1 year and 2 years old before they started marking and they only went out to potty but if they picked up a sent they went off, always came back after me shaking cookie jar (dog treats) but still it only takes one second for them to slip out, lost a childhood dog to car she was leashed and spooked when smoke alarm went off ran to street and never made it, still breaks my heart to think of it , its an awful way to lose a pet.

you chi is sooooo adorable by the way, love them longhaired ones both mine have short hair .

the shots are extra $8 per shot. They offer rabies and one other shot. My chi. is getting both. His appt is feb. 11th! Is it sad that I'm excited?? I'm pretty sure if he pees on the floor one more time i'm going break his legs and use them to beat him!

    Kaci,

I'm doing this one, everything is on the website. It was convenient for me as DH is in that area and can drop her off. Not the same as what the thread was originally about.

For you guys that have made your appointments...how long did it take for them to get back to you? I am trying to be patient but it has been almost 2 weeks since I submitted the stuff online and probably 3 weeks since I left a message for someone to call me back. I understand if they are flooded with calls and what not but this seems just a wee bit ridiculous to me.

    Thanks so much!

I called before they officially started and was put on a waiting list. I was told it would probably be Feb. I called back after they opened. They called back that day or the next and gave me 2-3 choices of dates. I picked the first one which was about a week later. The day before my appointment someone called me off the waiting list to schedule me. I guess they didn't check and see that i already had an appointment.
I would call again. Keep in mind that they way they are set up, pets are dropped off at 7 AM, picked up at 5PM and the rest of the time ALL the staff is in the back doing surgery. So no one answers the phones in between.

I realize that the whole staff is back there during surgery hours. I believe they actually mention that on their site. That is why I said I was patiently waiting. I guess I didn't realize I would still be waiting 2-3 weeks later. I am going to call again today. Maybe I'll get lucky :) Thanks for the input!

My niece's dog has his big day Feb. 17th. In the past week, he has started peeing everywhere in the house. I think he's around 2. I do know the female dog next door is in heat and he has been crying at the door to get out constantly. Will the marking go away after he is neutered. They are at their limit with him. I have always had my dogs altered early so I've never experienced this.

    At his age, it's 50/50

Marking may have become a habit at the age of 2.

Most dogs don't start marking till they reach about 6 months in age, which is why it is best to catch them before that habit starts.

There is a possibility he will cease, or not mark as much, but I wouldn't put money on it.

IF it is only due to the female in heat (maybe they should tell the neighbor about the affordable option at the SPCA) once those additional hormones are out of his system, that aspect will improve.

He just started this mess about a week ago. Thanks for the input. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her...she adores her baby but she is at the end of her rope.
