Not to overly alarm you but you might want to read this too. My daughter was never diagnosed as 'pink eye', but they did have a hard time figuring out what was wrong. We go to Dr Black at Eyedeals at 4042, beside Food Lion. He was great at assessing right away that she needed an opthomologist and referred us to Raleigh. His office still calls to check on she's doing, as she is not over this yet.

I did not say optician. I said optometrist. An optometrist is different from an optician. Optometrists must be licensed, have a Doctor of Optometry degree, and pass a state board examination. They can diagnose and treat problems described above.

sort of true...but not quite. Very common misconception...

    Optician vs. Optometrist vs. Ophthalmologist
Opticians are not responsible, nor trained, for eye examinations or treatment solutions for eye disorders. They help you pick our your frames and adjust them to fit comfortably.
Optometrists are doctors who perform annual examinations to treat any vision problems and detect signs of disease and abnormal conditions. Examinations may also include testing for glaucoma, color perception, depth, and the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes. Optometrists must be licensed, have a Doctor of Optometry degree, and pass a state board examination.
Ophthalmologists must acquire a Doctor of Medicine degree, a broad knowledge of general medicine, and clinical training. After 4 years of medical school and a year of internship, every ophthalmologist spends a minimum of 3 years of residency (hospital-based training) in ophthalmology. During residency, the eye M.D. receives special training in all aspects of eye care, including prevention, diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of eye conditions and diseases. An ophthalmologist may spend an additional year or two in training in a subspecialty. If a person requires medical or surgical care for an eye disease or an eye injury, he or she will seek the assistance of an ophthalmologist. Your refractive laser surgeon MUST be an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists must acquire a Doctor of Medicine degree, a broad knowledge of general medicine, and clinical training. This provides them with enough experience to diagnose and treat all types of eye disorders.

I don't think you should wait that long for an appointment if you have a problem with your eyes.

    Take care

Exactly, they should have squeezed you in immediately.....you obviously have a problem that should be looked at now,, not in two weeks when you could be blind....

    Pink eye

I go to Dr. Dahringer in Raleigh -- he is great; I had to take my 19 year old son in because of a little black spot that he found on his iris; office got him in pretty quick; come to find out it was a piece of embedded metal flake from a piece of rebar he worked with; removed it in less that a minute. I've been able to get in quickly if I needed to.

haha, the pink has gotten better with the use of the drops, unless something changes or it comes back I will keep my 2 week appointment, I promise I will not let myself get to the point of blindness :)
