I wasn't trying to push the yahoo group. I was just offering it as a tool to help keep us organized. It really helped the other group stay organized, and it wasn't a lot of work. I've never had a problem with evites, or work from home businesses from it, because it has always been a small group, and I know everyone that is in the group. It isn't open to anyone unless they are approved. But, again, I just offered it up as a suggestion for this new group.

Maybe we can do most of the things at home and then once a month wander farther away.... not eveyone can/will want to participate in everything offered. A variety will be nice.

Another far away but well loved place is Marbles! My son can stay for hours!! (again, I bought a year pass!)

What about a craft day? Are anyone's kids into doing crafts? We can come up with some craft stations and things for them to make and take home? I am grasping for ideas!

In what way....I was thinking about taking my 2 1/2 year old this week since my oldest is with her grandparents so its a lil bit easier to take the one.

Actually, Jennifer is closing Up & Away. The last day will be June 20th. She did tell me that someone else may be buying it and keeping it open under a different name. I will be leaving my dd there next week while I go to the doctor, so I may find out more then.

    Really ....darn.

Than I may as well take my dd just so she can do something fun and may interact with the others. Thanks for giving me the heads up :)

    :iagree:

I must have been in the same group as well! I finally emailed the president and asked to have my email address removed. I still ended up getting a few after that, but nothing like before. It had gotten absolutely ridiculous!

My daughter loves it there (she just turned 3), but she just thrives on being around other kids and has no siblings. I think she would have fun anywhere that there are other kids and toys!

Same with mine...she will turn 3 next month. I feel she needs more practice to be with the other kids her age and learn to share, etc before she starts pre-school in the fall. I worry about her cause she still a baby to me and she is such a Momma's girl. I think I am in trouble...lol

At Up & Away I've done the stay and play where you stay with them for $5 and I've also left her there when I have doctors appts. or hair appt., etc. for the $6 an hour drop-in. I've seen a huge change in her since we started going this year. She has become more independent from me and has really learned to play with other kids and share, etc. Her social skills really took off. I think it will definitely help when she starts preschool next year. It's also helped her to learn to play with kids of all ages, younger and older.

Exactly...that is what I am hoping for my soon to be 3 dd. My eldest who will be 4 next month is great in that area so I have no worries for her.

the craft day is a good idea for raining days, and you can get some great stuff from Oriental Trading company as well. I get their mag all the time or you can go to their web site as well.

I guess I can see your point on the homebased business thing...but it's just a thought that someone else brought up and just to keep open minds down the road in the future. I'm not interested in running it myself..I guess from having my own group and seeing how close I got to a few of them..I felt it could be a good thing.

Then that would be the person who owned it let it get that way..it's all how you run it..
We can stick to what is going on now, it looks like it would work well..
I beleive someone was just giving a idea to try and make things easier on everyone.

I am all for carpooling. I'm sure a few of us have mom-mobiles (minivans). I've got room for someone to ride shotgun, and the whole 3rd row is open.

Craft day sounds great - mygirls like to paint, glue, and cut (even their hair).

I didnt mean that about the yahoo group!!! It was aimed toward the last playgroup we were members of. It sounded like Cleo and I must have both been members of the same group. It didnt have a yahoo group or calandar or whatever was suggested. (at least not that I am aware of)

I am open to any all suggestions of making this playgroup fun and easy, that is the only way we will keep it going!

Sorry if we hurt anyones feelings.

RCmommy - somewhere towards the beginning of this thread is a schedule of events coming up, the first date is this next wednesday. pm me and let me know if you can come, your kid's ages and an email i can use to send you info. sorry, i'm out of town right now don't have my info in front of me!

Up & Away - I meant to post that on here, that they're closing, I go there all the time, I might even recognize some of you that go there! I don't care too much for Bullwinkles because it's in separate rooms and hard to see kids from where you're sitting, I prefer Chuck E Cheese over Bullwinkles (if I had to choose!)

Crafting sounds good, I don't really have a lot of that, my kids' are more outdoorsy type, but we are definitely open to that, especially on rainy or very hot days, and it's good to have a variety anyways. So we will definitely put that on our list of things to do. And anyone that does want to offer their houses for playdates please let me know, I know so far, Jennifer, Stephanie, me, Rachael (I think) have offered, and I think that's it.
