I'm about 99.9% positive this was made into a musical once... I know I should say "Bad 80's movie" but I actually love it. Pirate type movie, a girl was working on a boat for some sort of pirate show, falls & hits her head. Goes into this daydream where the blonde guy I think from The Blue Lagoon is a pirate and she's a general's daughter... I can't think of the name of the movie, but I swear, it was made into a musicial. It was so bad, it was good (at least to me back when I was like, 6 years old).
That would be "The Pirate Movie" starring Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins. It was pretty good (no need to be embarrassed). If you liked it, though, you should try "Pirates of Penzance", which is what it was based on.
That's it!!!! I love that movie. "Pirates of the Penzance" must have been the musical I was thinking about. Now I definately have to go see it. Thanks Clif!
I saw Jekyll and Hyde when Sebastian Bach was in it. Man that guy has a range. I enjoyed it. Took the kids to see the wiggles when they came around. Hated it. Sometimes I catch myself singing the freaking songs!!
Since the new thread was started Clif let me reply to your response about My Fair Lady...the musical will be very different from the play you claim to have disliked. Try going in with an open mind. This production is supposed to be absolutely fabulous!
Loved RIVERDANCE!!! also I loved seeing Annie with my daughter! Least favorite was - South Pacific !!
I never claimed to have seen a play called "My Fair Lady", indeed there is no play by that name (there is a play with basically the same plot called "Pygmallion", but I never said I saw that). It's not the actors that I disliked, it's the plot and the script. Both of those will be the same whether tomorrow, when I saw it in the threatre in the past or was in it in high school. If you try and tell me that this one will have either a different plot or a different script, then it won't be "My Fair Lady". It doesn't matter how good the actors are, it's like putting lipstick on a pig. No matter how good you might think it looks, it's still a pig. Hey, some people liked it. More power to them. Personally I don't.
Recently we saw Mamma Mia and loved it. My other fav was Camelot with Robert Goulet. It was hysterical and fab. Haven't had a worse, yet.
Well, I went and it wasn't any better than any other performances. Oh well. I did discover that "Spamalot" is coming (in April, I think).
