Don't pressure her...My son was over 3 before he was ready...the ped's told us not to push him, he would let us know when he was ready...he did, and he's had minimal accidents!
    Good luck!

Koo - I'm missing the humor in the picture you posted. Looks more like child abuse!

You know ncmom... that crossed my mind too and I knew someone would point out that OBVIOUS point... but nonetheless, it's just a random funny picture I have found on the internet...

laugh or don't laugh, doesn't matter either way to me. I'll still find it funny tomorrow.

I am potty training my son right now. He loves to read so to keep him on the potty I read to him. I do not give him candy when he pees we sing a song. We are not 100% yet but are on the way.

This is for the women on this thread that may get a kick out of this or not.

But as you all know, I am trying to potty train my 2 1/2 year old.

Well She shut me up big time today....

I was feeling that I was having my time of the month so I went to the bathroom to go check and the next thing I know, my 2 1/2 year old walks in and says "Mommy, if you a big girl and you wear a diper..then I don't see why I need to get out of my diper" and walks out.

Now how I am gonna explain that to a 2 1/2 year old girl. Too damn smart for her own good.

LOL, you need to re-phrase that, to "Too damn smart for MY own good." That's what I tell people about my kiddo all the time. I truly do think kids are smarter than they used to be.

OMG  OK, so i am showing my age, but when i was raising my 3 children, if they were not potty trained by age 2, they were not accepted into any type of nursery school/day care. All 3 of my boys were totally potty trained by 18mo. i did the "buy their favorite cartoon character underwear theory" and it worked wonderfully. Added to that, the two younger ones were very much wanting to be like their older sibling. Good luck, and i agree with Ken, make sure there isn't something physically wrong to prevent her from going to the potty.

Ok, no smart remarks from the young moms saying we were harming our kids training them when they were too young - all my boys are wonderful, well adjusted men now.

My Mom swears up and down she had us trained at about that same age Kaci. I think my son was about 2.5, the daycare he was going to insisted they be trained by 3. It is definitley a combination of readiness in the child and constant vigilence by the parents in my experience. I began to wonder who had trained who, LOL!

My son had to be trained by 3 to attend pre-school, and he was. My daughter, I swear she just woke up one day and was potty trianed, it was so weird, we thought she would never be trained, the poof she was. lol

Yeah, I guess that is what's wrong with him now - as a child he was traumatized by the toilet so now he is afraid of putting the seat down... though he can somehow raise it. :?

See Kaci, potty training too early is not always harmless.

Personally, I waited until my kids were 3. It took mine about a week to train, instead of half a year.

That is what i am saying, back 20some years ago, they had to be trained by 2yo to get into any type of nursery school. My mom swears all 5 of us were trained by that age too. It never took half a year, they usually picked it up rather quickly wanting to be big boys like Daddy. You know what is funny, the next generation will probably go back to training early, it is hilarious how things repeat themself over time.

yet one more "this is how I did it"-my twin girls were 2.5 and starting to take the dd (darn diapers) off and spread them around the house-they were ready. I barricaded us in the kitchen (cleanable surface) for a whole day. Then the clothes came off-nothing below the waist. I think they needed to see themselves "go" to really believe it. We watched TV on the little portable DVD, read books and sang song, colored etc. In three hours they were using the potty chairs and never went on themselves again. My older son I tried the pull-ups-he just thought they were another diaper.
