Mine was 40.00, but I have gas heat and I know that makes a difference. My gas bill was 19.00.

That's what I do like about the equal pym. thing-no explosions or surprises and I don't have to watch it so much during winter or summer as far as turning it up or down for that matter ;)

We did the equal pay thing once years ago when DH was in the AF. We ended up owing a large chunk at the end. I'll just pay as I go, thanks.

I don't trust them enough to do the equal payment plan.

We've been on it for 1 1/2 years now without any problems, actually we're using less then the projected amount,so it will be less per year after the next adjustment.

:iagree: I feel like I have to keep closer track of how much is being used in case they just don't feel like revising it correctly year after year.

Just over $110. Turned our heat on a bit early this year, but I'm still very happy with that amount. It's the lowest we've had since living here.

You two are total idiots with nothing better to do.

Annette and the rest of the board,

If PE is charging you $200 on the equal pay program, and your average bill is $175 you end up with a total overage of $300 and at the end of the term and they will re-adjust your equal pay amount. At $175 x 12 = $2,100 - $300 = $1800 / 12 = $150 for the next year. If your usage remains in the area of $175 then the following year your equal pay will even back out to $175 after your balance evens out.

I know because I just had to go through with this when my HVAC died during the cold snap last year. The cold plus a dying HVAC unit made my bill sky high right before my equal pay was re-evaluated. They bumped up my equal pay high enough to work through the extra money I owed them, but at the same time I installed a ultra high efficiency HVAC that made my usage go way down. I was able to work through the money I owed them in about 5 months yet they still wanted me to keep paying the high equal pay amount (would have built up in the area of $600 in extra payments to PE). So I contacted them and had them re-adjust midterm, and after a bit of a fight they relented.
