Correction. Dont knock over. Stomp on them fast and pack down the dirt. They will decide where to go. I had huge mounds in my yard last year. Orkin guy came out. He said stomp on them pack down the dirt. Keep doing it. They will move.

I got an email from a friend about a way to get rid of fire ants.It said pour 2 cups of club soda directly in the center of each mound and since the carbon dioxide in the water is heavier than air it displace's the oxygen which suffocate's all the ant's.It say's the whole colony should be dead in 2 day's.This was a study by walter reeves from university of georgia.Good luck and I hope it work's.
I have never had red ants in my yard. Every year I put down Bayer ( in the spreader ) granules that kill bugs spider ticks etc. Always get it at Lowe's. Shut my mouth
