I hope you emailed them with suggestions on how the money can be raised to purchase the additional buses if this isn't done. That's the whole problem, they don't know how they would pay for the buses if they have to buy them.

I was told by a board member this morning that there is money for teacher supplements from other sources but other board members and Dr. Parker don't want to even discuss this.

Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina Education Lottery transferred almost $98 million to schools statewide for the first three months of 2008, marking the largest transfer of proceeds yet from the two-year-old games.
Gross sales for the quarter were $315 million, setting a record for the lottery, officials said. For the fiscal year, sales are $114 million ahead of the pace set a year ago.
To date, the lottery has raised $628 million for public schools in North Carolina, officials said.
“We are incredibly proud to have raised this amount of money for education in just two years of operations,” lottery director Tom Shaheen said in a statement. “All of us at the lottery are ecstatic that our efforts to increase sales are really starting to pay off."

I would also like the start times to stay as they are now, mostly for purely selfish reasons. But seriously, having to wait later in the morning to drop the little ones off at school (or put them on the bus) means my work schedule has to completely change, and makes me later coming home to get in the same hours, which means traffic is worse and my commute will be longer. It is a huge pain in the arse to change something like this, that will effect the rest of daily family life. Just buy the dang buses. And give the teachers more money because they certainly deserve it. And then demand the state audit to see where all of your tax money is REALLY going because it really feels like for as much as they collect, more of it ought to be available to support the education of our kids. Let's start with the DOT.

That's exactly what I see, too.
