We got info home that Polenta is excusing car pool at 1 and bus riders at 1:30. This is supposed to be county-wide, not school specific.

We got a phone call..... that nice recorded message from the principal, (Mcgee's Elem.). Somehow my daughter's teacher knew before that though, because she sent home a notice announcing they would be having their holiday party on Wed. since they are dismissing early on Thursday.

when I called last week, the lady that answered the phones had to put me on hold to go ask herself.

It will be a staggered dismissal. I am at a high school and we will dismiss at 12:30 (buses anyway). 4th block actually ends at 11:45 witht lunch being offered from 11:45 to 12:30.

I'm still chuckling from that response... too funny!! I knew what he/she meant too, but typing messages versus actual conversations sure does add another level of comprehension.

Ok yeah thats funny, now that I am reading it. I meant, she had to go ask for the answer, because she didn't even know. Oh well, the kids are too excited to do anything this week anyway.

Has anyone asked why they did not have this early dismissal on the 06-07 calendar? It seems they've cause a lot of confusion by not doing so.

They're copying Wake County Schools. They always get out early the day before a vacation. I just hope they don't start copying other things Wake County does.

Too late. Over crowding...staggered school hours... bussing...year round school options...

"We moved here (to Clayton) to get away from all that"
(quote from a Wake Co parent at a JoCo School board meeting)

Not opening a can of worms here - just sayin'....

I was gonna say that too. I saw it on the news a few days ago. I don't mind the school year round thing toooooooo much as long as both my kid' schools are on the same schedule, not one have this week off and the other a different week off. That makes it impossible to go anywhere on vacation.
