I've decided that I am combination of Weezer (Steel Magnolias) and Julia Sugarbaker (Designing Women).

    Julia Sugarbaker on Pornography:

TERRY: Just so you know Mrs. Sugarbaker, this is still America, and free speech will always be protected.
JULIA: I know it will. But pornography won't always be, Miss Wilder. This country will let the Nazis speak, and the Ku Klux Klansmen speak because as dispicable as their statements are, they are speaking their mind. But when you publish your magazine, you're not speaking your mind. You'd shut that magazine down tomorrow if it weren't turning a profit. You know it and I know it. Pornography is not free speech, it's commerce. Otherwise you couldn't zone it out of certain nice areas of the city.
TERRY: Well, I see I am getting nowhere. We're both business women. Let's just leave it at that. I won't bother you, and you won't bother me.
JULIA: No, that's not quite right, Miss Wilder. You bother me very much. I know I can be sanctimonious and self-righteous, but nevertheless I've just gotta say it. Shame on you for calling yourself a feminist. And shame on you for hurting and demeaning women everywhere -- all for a lousy nickel. I may not be able to stop you today, but someday...we're going zone you right out of the city. And then we're gonna zone you right out of the county and then we're going to zone you right out of the country. And in fact, Miss Wilder, if I had my way, we might just zone you right off the globe.

    Weezer on her mood:

'I'm not crazy - I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years.''

    Grace

I have one lab mix that we got from the SPCA of Wake County. He's an adorable black & white mix that is full of mischief even though he's 6 years old (he TORE his ACL doing something crazy if that tells ya anything).

And I rescued a Dachshund about 3 months after from a home that was neglecting her. She's lost 6 pounds since her "adoption."

I can't even remember when we got them (my memory isn't always that great), but the Lab was 8 months old when we got him and he's now 6 .. And the Dachshund was 2 1/2 years and well .. her age is uh? Brain not quite working at 5:42

Welcome! Nice to have another animal lover among us. I have a 1 1/2 y.o. Golden Retriever, and I foster a dog for the Jo. Co. Animal Protection League (jcapl.org)

I never thought I would "love" an animal as much as I love my dogs. I also wasn't sure how "welcomed" I'd be after such a long lurking spell and just all the sudden one day pop in on the posting. (I've seen a lot of people come in and post and get slammed, but I figure most of them ARE trolls that are just signing on for that one controversial post and leave).

So thank you so much for asking me about my dogs. :D

we all face the possibility of being 'slammed'. Just have to develop thick skin and not take stuff personally. And welcome! This is a fun place to waste time.

Welcome to all the newbies i have missed saying "hi" to, sorry but posting time right now is limited. For those newbies that come on the board for friendship, communication, information, etc., they are all welcomed with open arms. Like Garnet said, the slamming usually occurs for trolls and a few folks who just haven't learned social skills:lol: Anyway, welcome aboard all and i hope you enjoy your stay.

    Who I am

I am 45, married for 23 years. Moved to Clayton from MA 6 months ago(DH's job relocated us), we lived in a suburb about 25 miles west of Boston for the past 15 years. We, have 2 daughters one is 21 a senior in college and one is 18 a freshman in college. They both are in college back in MA. The older one is going to apply to NC State for Grad school and we are working on getting the younger one to transfer to UNC Wilmington.
Also have 2 furry kids, 2 cats one who is 16 and diabetic and another 14 and not.
I am not very thick skinned but I am realizing that I should get a bit if I am going to be on here any amount of time.
Look forward to learning more about the area, so far I love it!

I'm a relocated yankee too - by choice. Well, actually I'm a relocated immigrant yankee by choice.

I did what every right-minded, left-leaning yankee should do these days. Sell your house in the northeast and buy one twice the size for half the price in Johnston County. Right? Anyway, this place feels like home. Could be because my neighbor is from Maine, or because his neighbor is from DC, or that her neighbor is from NY, or that their neighbors are from Mexico, or that...hey wait - Mexico's not a state. I digress...

I work for myself, don't take crap from anyone and make a decent living writing websites and blogs for money. Yes, people pay me to blog. You can, too if you feel like it. I do it all from my little house here in Yankee-ville. Also known as Clayton Pointe.

Oh, and I'm the proud owner of Relocate Clayton and the Johnston County Job Board.

Let's see...I'm married, have a 3 year-old son...and two cats that I'll never claim as dependents ever again. I still swear it was a typo on the tax form.

I am from ny also. I am happily married for 4 years. Have been living here 4 years. I am 37 have three dogs, no kids. We live in Willow Spring. My husbands job transfered us, by choice. I am a bartender, my husband an engineer. Did I mention one of my dogs loves to whine at me? I have no more living room furniture because he ate it. Anyway, We moved here because ny was not duable, 9/11, and a more peaceful life. It is nice to finally feel safe.

Hee hee, you're rather funny. But please, I beg you, do not try to coax other people to come here. We natives consider this area to be ALREADY FULL-UP!

    BTW, welcome to Clayton!
