I am going, and will drag my wife along as well, though she not happy about it. Though I made her watch the trailer the other night, she was that looks kinda cool opcorn:
It was really a great movie! If you get a chance, definitely worth the price of admission. I could go watch it again right now, and probably will go back to the theater to see it again.
I will say the previews looked a lot more exciting than the TV series or even the movies with the original cast. Both Star Wars and Star Trek have had their moments of cheesiness. I have all the Star Wars movies (like other enthusiasts) and I couldn't tell you the last time I watched one. I guess I should make sure to clarify that I'm not all geeky about Star Wars. I have never once felt compelled to dress like a jedi or a storm trooper because it looks "cool." So, to all the Trekkie fans...Live long and prosper and may the force be with you...always.
You don't even need to be a Star Trek "fan" to enjoy it. My son had never seen any previous iterations and really enjoyed it. It tied in really well with the old series, but you didn't have to have seen them to "get it". If you are going to see it though, the theater would be best, the special effects were truly amazing. I can't think of a movie I've seen recently that I enjoyed more.
woohoo, DS and future DIL are taking me to see it at the IMAX today at 2:30 for Mother's Day, then to Tir Na Nog to grab some chow:hurray::hurray::hurray:
Saw it. In general, it was a good movie. I liked the casting of the characters, the script was ok, the special effects were cool. But I didn't like the overall outcome. Unfortunately I can't go into too much detail without giving away a lot of spoilers. Sufice it to say that I hope they use the next movie to fix it.
