I'm telling you, you haven't had a southern breakfast until you've had weenie gravy.

Y'all come on over and I'll make a big pan.

The kind I crave has andouille sausage and tasso gravy. If you're ever in Cola., SC go to the Blue Marlin in the Vista and order it.

Michelle - your Barf comment is right on. That's what I thought too before I tried it. It's delicious!

I like black-eyed peas too but they have to be surrounded by cornbread and onions!

Wife didn't eat grits either till she tried the shrimp and grits at Uncle Bubba's in Savannah, then I found a receipe of my own that makes Bubba's taste like paste.

As for black-eyed peas, only way to eat those is with hot sauce and salt as long as they were cooked with pork scraps for seasoning.

I've never tried peas with hot sauce before. I throw me some fat back in the crock pot with all my beans. MMMmmm

    Well where do I start:

Homemade Chicken and Dumplings -Mama used to make mean fox(huge squirrels) squirrel dumplings too
Fat Back w/homemade biscuits and molasses
My Daddy's homemade hot sausage, BBQ and BBQ sauce-we raised hogs, so everything he made was delicious
Black eyed peas (seasoned w/fat back of course)
    Fried Okra
My Mamma's Homemade Bread Pudding (made from day old homemade biscuits)
Peach Cobbler still warm with vanilla bean ice cream
    ALWAYS Sweet Tea

MMMmmm, black eyed peas, the spicier the better. I don't use hot sauce, I cook them with salt pork and crushed red pepper. They get pretty hot. Have to tone it down a bit for the kids though.

Well my wife is out of town freezing peas and speckeled butterbeans. I am cooking for myself and remembered this from our early years. Boiled chicken with elbow macaroni. Not real fancy but very satisfing and the leftovers are really good for the next day.

We had a family reunion yesterday. I thought of this thread after my meal. Let's see if I can list everything I sampled.

    Homemade chicken pastry
    deviled eggs
    green bean casserole
    squash casserole
    veggie casserole
    rice casserole
    butter beans
    hushpuppies
    blueberry cobbler
    banana pudding

Felt like I was gonna pop after that! ;)

My aunt makes some yummy deviled eggs. She adds bacon to them.
