You don't know what my conclusion was, but we know what happens when we assume.

Don't do that. If you google many of the things you take in you will never eat again.

Wanna have fun, google intestinal parasites

I think that is too much fun for me to handle. Some one told me about that at some restaurant somewhere. Too scared, probably would never eat again.

  6. Yes, it does contain chlorine, but so does comunity drinking water. Lot worse things out there.

Thats why most of us have filters on our water systems.

I use Splenda. It's much better for your body than say, any fast food from any restaurant. It's better than sitting in the smoking section of some bar or restaurant breathing 2nd hand smoke. It's better than anything that comes prepackaged (aka just about 90% of the crap at the grocery that comes in a box or a bag with refined sugar, flour or high fructose corn syrup).

I think I like the odds of Splenda.

Ken, I must tell you how I just so enjoyed reading your post since I have just spent the last two weeks teaching my oldest DD all about atoms and molecules and electron orbits and how atoms can share electrons in the final orbit without making them a NEW element, etc. I relearned a bunch of stuff myself  Know what...it's more fun learning it again when you are all grown up. I often find myself WAY more interested in her school than DD is. I sit there and (silently) say to myself, this is SOooo cool, I had forgot all about how this worked  Sure makes life interesting.

Nice to be able to apply this to the Splenda debate also. My sister won't touch ANY artificial sweetner. Claims even Splenda makes her joints swell and makes her "foggy" headed. Because of the negative info on it, I've tried to lessen my intake, but the diet I'm on calls for low to no sugar so I still use either splenda or raw agave syrup to sweeten stuff.

Your post makes me look at Splenda in a different light. What do you make of the many stories out there on how splenda has really had bad health effects on some? I don't really know anymore :?

Everything in moderation. You probably shouldn't injest it 24/7 just like anything else. I've got bigger things to worry about than the bit of Splenda in my Diet Dr. Pepper.

I understand what you mean. Well, except for the bagpipes maybe  That's just too funny!

    sugar free carmel topping

DH bought some sugar free carmel topping for ice cream last week. Normally, we don't buy sugar free (what's the point), but I guess he picked this up by mistake.

In the heating instructions, it said specifically 'do not microwave'. Instead, the instructions said to either run it under warm tap water, or place it in a pan of warm water and heat on the stove.

So, of course, we microwaved it to wee what would happen. yuck! It turned into carmel glue.

Yep! And if we can just get guns banned, no one will ever get shot by a criminal again

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...Since chemistry was your worst subject I won't even bother replying to you. Chances are you wouldn't understand.

But in all fairness, derived is not the correct word there. Glad you enjoyed it though :)

So is it safe or not? I'm a die-hard anti-artificial sweeteners gal, except when I indulge in Diet Coke occasionally. When will they come up with honey-sweetened soda? Mmmmmm tasty and good for the allergies.

Unless you grew it yourself, and even then it might be doubtful, it is probably as healthy as any other sweetener you would put in your body.

But then again, why would you need anymore sweetener? 8)

Just like everything else in life, there are people that argue both sides of the fence. The only thing I have ever heard really bad things about (from a doctor friend) is aspartame (sp?)
