Really, I hope people *look* before they turn. Could have been a dog, a child, a cat, or any other neighbor walking or just standing there.

Going ahead and sticking my neck out here....
I somewhat disagree with this old saying....it seems to me that "BUSY" hands could bring about trouble as easily as idle hands. Sometimes we get so busy that we don't "see" what is right in front of us and whether you are speeding through a neighborhood, speeding through your thoughts or speeding through life....bad things can happen.

lf everyone (including kids, parents, neighbors, drivers, etc) would take a little "Idle" time to think and plan ahead....let busy hands be idle a while...put down the cell phone when driving, spend time with family, be a positive influence on kids (your own or others) and be a part of their "free" time or get to know the neighbors, etc, etc.....and just SLOW DOWN.....

Then people might find more time being spent in the "workshop" to implement well thought-out choices and less time in the "toolshed" paying for the consequences of not keeping hands idle long enough to think.

I guess my point is that whether one's hands are "Idle or Busy", it is not "the hands" that make the choice between right and wrong.

Let me post a 'disclaimer' first of all. I only read the original post which opened up this discussion. Anything which was posted after that, I've not read. Now that being publicly posted....

The other evening I was driving with several friends in my vehicle. We found ourselves in a very unique situation. We did happen to have, at the time, a camera with us. As the driver, I pulled up as close as possible and took a picture of the individual's license tag on the back of their vehicle.

We then ended up having to circle back around and ended up passing his vehicle a 2nd time but it was not intentional - it was the only way to get out of the parking lot we were in.

The 2nd trip around, by that time the individual had gotten out of his vehicle and was looking at the back of his car. We all started laughing because it was this fellow who was 'mis-behaving'. When he saw us he shouted out asking what was it that we were taking a picture of. I stopped, yet again, I told him I took a picture of his tag. His reaction was priceless. You would have thought we were the ones 'mis-behaving'. He did not like that someone could ID him.

With all of this reporting/tattling to police going on my only thought is that some of you have waaaaay too much time on your own hands.

It'd take me two seconds to call. I can spare that much.

Besides, if they are pulling this stunt what is the next thing they will do for a laugh. Nobody got hurt now, but it sounds like they are pretty wreckless and will probably end up hurting themselves.

I honestly don't know exactly what he was doing. He was in the parking lot of a McDonald's at the time we took the pic of the tag. We all had seen him earlier in the evening at another location. We all agreed his behavior was questionable/ suspect/ and possibly 'mis-behaving'.

When I said I was taking a picture of his tag, he made this real bizarre face and said "Well, this isn't even my car. I borrowed it from my girlfriend."

It used to be that if the neighborhood kids were being a little mischeivous, the adult would walk down and knock on the door of the kid's house and let the parents know, so the parents could handle the situation. Or write a letter/note letting them know of the situation you encountered and mail it with your signature on it and phone number so they know who to apologize to if need be. Or, just imagine, they might just suck it up and get over it thinking that sooner or later the parents might notice and just handle it with no intervention at all, and that the kids will grow out of the phase. I absolutely HATE the thought of tax money being wasted to have our local police have to go out and find these kids and knock on the door and say "don't put things in the road, it's dangerous, that stuffed monkey could've gotten run over by a careless driver." and make a couple of scary threats about jail or community service or what-ifs. It makes me sick that they will be doing this on tax money, instead of spending their time trying to help people that really need help, and trying to catch real criminals, instead of making some busy-body worry wart feel better that the kids are as miserable as she was when she realized she'd been tricked and made to look like a loon on Youtube.

I feel better now. I hope your kids are perfect so no one ever calls the cops on them, because apparently that's what you do now whenever someone does something that you don't like. I guess I should call the cops when the kid down the street rides his obnoxious four wheeler for a few minutes in the yard since our covenants don't technically allow that...if I'm lucky I might even catch him without a helmet. And when another neighbor's kid rides his little jeep up and down the street, even though he's only four, because it must be illegal on a state road and what if some careless driver came around the corner and swerved to miss him and wrecked the car in the ditch where there were some kids playing with a stuffed monkey in a stroller!!? And when the neighbors party a little too late and are loud after 10pm. OMG and the dog that dares to bark at the neighbors that have partied too late, I'll have to call about them too, it's a noise ordinance thing you know. And when the kid from down the street is smoking while he's waiting for the bus, even though I know he's only seventeen. Cops are good for everything right??
I feel so much safer knowing that the policemen are going to yell at the kids about leaving a stroller with a stuffed monkey in it in the road. Really.

You saw him twice in a parking lot and thought that his behavior was questionable/ suspect/ and possibly 'mis-behaving'.? I think maybe you were the one acting a little strange,

(laughin')....that's what i love about the internet...communication in it's worst form...some folks just need to be able to hurle insults and rude comments and just wait for the opportunity to do so...just gotta love it...

since you weren't there i'll just leave you with your own opinion of what transpired...you've figured it all out so perfectly that no one could penetrate that brain...

so when some 20 something year old is selling drugs to high school kids around your area i'll just keep my eyes closed to the deal.
