Let's flip it around a bit. How many jobs are out there where you are required to be bilingual because the CLIENTELE is bilingual? What is so hard about requiring all employees of a business to be able to speak basic English? Didn't someone recently complain that their DH didn't get a job because he wasn't bilingual? What is the difference?
I didn't say I wasn't understanding you Rich.... I simply said to be tolerant of it and instead of complaining simply say.... sorry, didn't understand you can you repeat? Is there really anything wrong with that? As far as educating oneself on other languages / cultures that was FOR ME.... because I LIKE TO LEARN ....... No reason for everyone to get their panties in a wad... I didn't ask YOU to learn.
I think I've told this before, but DH and I attempted to go through a drive-thru while out of town once and simply could NOT get the person taking the order to understand what it was we wanted. DH was extremely patient for the umpteenth time that he had to repeat the order. I'm not kidding, it was at least 10 times. To the point that we got tickeled and started to wonder if there was a camera around taping. It was THAT bad. It has nothing to do with being unwilling to learn about another culture or simply asking them to repeat themselves once or twice (which I have NO problem with). It's about not being able to conduct business in a timely manner because of a language barrier.
Hey, I'm hearing you... and opinions are just that. I aint out here trying to change the world... just wanting to make a few folks smile with my everyday observations. I reckon next time I'll start a thread about how puppies are cute so's that everybody don't get all mad at each other. Ya'll are still alright with me... Even if we don't agree, I'm still chattin it up with a smile.
you think THIS is fiesty? LOL ..... PAAAALEASE ... There's so much more to my passion for living than just this subject that fires me up even more.
