We went and saw Fred Claus last weekend. The girls and I thought it was cute, but DH didn't like it. We saw the preview for the compass, and it looks action packed, but seems like it might be a little to hard to follow for kids to understand it. The polar bears did look cool though!
Here is the direct link to buy tickets for the sneak preview of "The Compass" at White Oak tomorrow night at 7 pm: https://www.movietickets.com/purcha...986&movie_id=45868&perfd=12012007&perft=19:00
I think the polar bears are awesome!!! The way they described them as an animal protecting a human (I forgot the offical name of them) kind of made me laugh. My cat Scooby Poo follows me around EVERYWHERE. From the second I walk through the door to the second I actually leave, he is right at my heels! My cat is my polar bear.
Never saw "West Side Story" as a play, but I liked the movie. (I also liked the "Romeo and Juliet" movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, but of course that wasn't a musical and beside the point) Believe it or not, I have yet to see "Cats" (or "Rent" for that matter). Also, I simply refuse to travel to NYC to see a play. If they believe themselves to be important enough that I should see them, they should come to me.
(I was actuallly joking about Showgirls being a musical..thankfully, its not!) I think "Wicked" would be my favorite. If they actually came to Raleigh so I could see it to be my favorite of course! But I do want to see My Fair Lady so you have to tell me how it is.
That's ok, for some reason I saw "Showgirls" but was thinking "A Chorus Line" any way. I'll do my best.
I actually liked the book! I was that idiot, in my car during my lunch hour screaming, "What happened to Dorothy?!?" Yeah. It had its moments, it at times was a little dry but I did like it.
The only reason I got the opportunity to see it in NY, was because our high school drama club went. It was unbelievable, for a 16 year old girl...back in 81. Wow. Great memories, great show. I would love to see "Rent".
'dry' that's the better word, I retract "lame". I screamed the same question, so did my sister....funny!
Glad to see I'm not alone! There was another book he wrote..based on the Cinderella story which I thought was horrible. I havent read "Son of the Witch" yet. I heard it wasnt that good. Now "Rent"...DEFINATELY WORTH SEEING!!! Truly amazing. I saw it with the original cast a long time ago, worth every penny!
I created a new thread to discuss plays and musicals. A few posts here were ok, but now we've officially hijacked the thread.
oops....now back to the regularly scheduled program..... SNEAK PEEK OF THE GOLDEN COMPASS THIS WEEKEND AT WHITE OAK.
Ha ha! I'll be there and I will give my movie review of it either tomorrow night or Sunday. I can't wait....
Ooooh, I thought sneak previews were free. Sometimes you see them advertised in the paper, or somebody might be passing out the tix at the mall. Maybe I am thinking of something else?
Yeah, sometimes they are free. Since this movie is going to be "Top grossing", it is not going to be free although I'm sure some places might offer free tickets. Probably have to win them though. Otherwise, gotta fork over $9/adults, $7/kids.
Movie Review Well, I went and saw "The Golden Compass" on Saturday night. They had two theaters set up for the preview, the one I was in was pretty crowded but there were seats left. The manager came in and told all of us that we were not allowed to have any sort of video taping devices. It was kind of funny because during the movie, we saw a couple of "flashes" that seem to bounce off the screen. Not sure what that was about. Anyway, the movie was actually quite good. It had a good storyline, the acting was superb and to me, it was definately worth paying full price to see. The only thing I did not like was the ending. It wasnt until we were outside that I remembered this was probably going to be a trilogy. Two thumbs up, I really enjoyed it. For those of you who may be concerned, there was no talk of religion, etc that I could tell of. I think its a good family movie for everyone.
All I've really heard about the movie is that they kill God at the end of it. So are you saying they don't?
Did anybody see the Simpson's episode the other week where Flanders was sitting with a stack of videotapes monitoring everything that came on TV for anti-christian messages? My son and I were talking about this movie, and he brought that up - asked if people really did that. lol
Well for one, I never read the books. This is a trilogy apparently so the ending of THIS movie that I did see, NO ONE died at the end. So no. I also did not see God as a character in this movie either, so I really have no clue what you are talking about. Sorry.
