My Grandfather had a 1953 Jubilee model that looked exactly like that. It lasted forever, you couldn't get it stuck and that baby would top out at 18MPH on the highway! That was about double the speed of what his old Allis Chalmers would do.
We also had a Farmall Cub. My cousin and I use to race them back on the farm and the Ford smoked the lil farmall. I remember my Pop spanking my butt for pulling two tractor sleds full of fresh primed toboacco and going fast as I could. I did spill the 2nd in a ditch and yes I had to clean it up! It's funny. I can think about the tractors...then remember the smells too.
I remember my dad always kept them in the garage and I use to love squirting them like the three stooges would.
I carry one on my key chain too. And I still have a dog tag chain full of them from all the "C" rations I ate. You didn't eat without one!!! Pre-Power tools: I still have all my hand tools that we used to build "entire" homes with. The only thing we used power for was lights!! Then again, I knew the dead sea when it was only sick.
Back yard trash barrel. Everybody had one growing up. I used to love to hear the hairspray cans explode! Local guy came by once a month to empty the barrel into the back of his truck.
My MIL still has one Kent! There are still a lot of them in the "east of I95" part of Johnston County, you know with the rednecks and the truck nuts.
Wake Co Solid Waste rules prevent trash barrel burning. The same for Outhouses, unless you get a building permit, and the last time I was in the Permit office, they said they had NEVER issued one! From the requirements I saw for the outhouse, it would withstand a nuclear blast! Not your typical wood outhouse!
