Valid information is not on either side and that was a good AP article on the number of immigrants. It was also from a site I knew would be hard to refute by those like wulfie or yourself. It works much better when you can use such information because it takes away any claim of bias toward that data. With the data others have posted it still shows that about half of the popultation of immigrants in this state are here legally. Unless they refute their own data or the data from a site clearly not biased in that direction, they have nothing else to refute.

Are you saying that half of the population of MEXICAN's in NC are here legally? IF that is what your trying to say than your just plain stupid.

No, I am saying the two figures do not support your claims of ~97% of the Hispanics or even Mexicans being illegal immigrants. The only way to know is to have a breakdown of the total into the subsets.

Also, when you make claims of population demographics based only on your personal guesses, that action is just plain stupid.

    http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/37000.html

    2008 population estimate 9,222,414

    Hispanic origin (2007) 7%

Calculated number of Hispanic origin 645,569

It seems Eers is trying to tell us there are no illegal immigrants in the state other than Hispanics (or as he believes Mexicans), the nearly half of the remaining immigrants of Hispanic origin who are here legally live somewhere else in the state and it is just here that there must be this problem.

If as he said 75% of the immigrants are Mexican the same percentage applied to both figures gives the same breakdown as math works that way.

Unless someone can explain the inherent flaw in the way math works, it seems someone is clearly blowing smoke where the percentages are concerned.

So you think all the legal hispanics moved to this area and all the illegal ones moved somewhere else? Is that what your Ph'd friends told you?

I don't see to many (signs, TV/Radio Stations, music section at walmart, billboards, food stores, esl in schools, etc) changing over to German, Chinese, French, Russian, etc. If there is such a influx of other ethnic populations where the hell are they? I know their not at the Walmart in Smithfield.

As far as the math and your smart buddies who know it all. Groups are going to twist the numbers for their own purposes. I'm not blind, it's obvious they have came here in masses. If you haven't seen them than you need to get out more.

There are very little hispanics from other countries besides Mexico in the US. The main reason is its alot harder for hispanics to sneak into Mexico than it is for Mexicans to sneak into the US. If you need the links telling about this, I will find them and forward to you.

No, I believe the demographics here are probably very similar to the other areas in NC. That would mean there were probalbly fewer illegal immigrants than legal immigrants for each segment of immigrant, based on your figures.

Can YOU read English? The illegal immigrant figure you used would include ALL illegal immigrants including all other nationalities. That in no way affects the numbers of Hispanic people in the state.

The number of Hispanics is ~650,000 in the state which would be a sufficient number to have the stores and other services want to ensure they got that share of business. Not everyone who is illegal speaks Spanish nor is everyone who speaks Spanish an illegal. You stated there are 350,000 illegal immigrants in the state, most of which are from South America, but not all. We do have Chinese, Indians, and even Canadians who stay passed their legal limits and are .... illegal immigrants, too. Thus, using the worst case scenario figures there are at least 300,000 legal Hispanic immigrants in the state. For there to only be no more than 3% of the Hispanic (or Mexican) population here to be legal nearly all of those 300,000 would have to live elsewhere and a much larger percentage of the illegal population would have to live in this area. This just does not make sense when you do the math.

That is why I used the data from the more anti-immigration site, which still reflects the data from the census site. You are going to try to tell us the anti-immigration site under estimated the number of Hispanics in the state because they wanted to skew the numbers lower? If they did not believe the numbers they would not have posted them yet now you say they must be wrong because you do not want to believe them?

It does not matter the percentage of illegal Mexicans versus the number of illegal Hispanics because using the same percentages on both sides will give the same result. That is the beauty of math. Unless you have some proof that all of the legal Hispanic immigrants are not Mexican and all of the illegal immigrants are Mexican you have no real case.

Wayne, you can't change the mind of racist pigs!

He already has his mind set that ALL illegals are MEXICANS.......not Hispanic,Canadian,Chinese, Hondurans,or all the other regions where we have immigrants coming from, but straight up Mexican.......I don't think he really knows the difference from one or the other.

I know, but pointing out the figures does make it more clear there is a bias in the thought process in case anyone else is inclined to believe the interpretation he posts.
