Thanks, but there was no paint, he just used a brine solution to rust coat it quickly. If there was paint someone else must have done it after it was installed outside back in July.
They wanted an aged look to go with the initial exhibition hence the name of the piece, "Rusted Roots". It was planned as a permanent exhibit and they knew the metal would rust unless it was maintained with new coats of polyurethane or some other sealant and that it was likely to still be mottled over time so the immediate rust treatment was applied.
If George was still with us, I think he would have found this pretty funny. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
