I didn't let them throw their stuff on the floor at home or in the restaurant. However, kids are kids and accidents happen both in the home and in a restaurant. The difference is that, in a restaurant, I am paying to not have to clean it up myself.
1. I never let my child throw stuff on the floor and if she did drop something I usually picked it up. Teaching a child manners should be the same at home as when you are out. Even as a much younger child then she is now I could take her to a four star restaurant and she didn't make a mess, stayed in her seat, was quiet, and used the proper utensils. BUT i only had one to look out for - I am sure it is a lot harder with more. 2. I am going to the mountain of West Virginia THIS WEEKEND. Just north of Danville. OMG what am in for and should I even open my mouth? I will be accompanied by a "native" but still......
Does peanut shells at a place like Logans count? Because heck no I dont let my kid throw shells on the floor! But I do at Logans.
Can you squeal like a pig? Oops, sorry I was supposed to drop the WV thing ..... But since I have already said something I will continue, Most of the folks will probably be friendly, but it will be similar to visiting the non-tourist areas of the mountains of NC in relation to the general attitude and independence. It has been a couple of decades or so and the economy has not gotten any better over time so any outside money coming in is always a benefit.
OK, my goal is not to tick off the locals and get shot at or anything like that. I'm a pretty mellow person for the most part but I don't think I should speak much sinceI still haven't lost all/any of my yankee accent.
Just don't start telling them how we do things in North Carolina My personal experience matches that of Wayne, and you can even find a sushi bar in Huntington, WV.
Let us know how it goes .... assuming that you actually survive the "experience" and return to "civilization"
I clean up after my daughter, just as I do at home. Some mess is to be expected at her age, that is why she wears a bib.
