    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I just moved here and liked the fact that the area didn't have a lot of traffic! Wal-Mart will add lots of traffic in the area.I left So.Fla so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. Where can I find information on when meetings are held? I would like to attend the next one. I hope we don't end up losing the small town feel that we moved here for. I like driving to the store and passing farms and wide open spaces. I don't want that to disappear.

Fair enough however, this is a two way street. The county misses info too and should not be able to shrug it off, sweep it under the table or ignore it!

I am not opposed to growth. Walmart is not growth, it's a cancer. How many of the same old same old do we need? The Clayton store is less than 8 miles away and in the other direction the one in Fuquay is less than 12 miles away.
And let's not forget all of the extra traffic that comes through 40/42 with the C3 church around the corner.
As for the draft house, the local rednecks can't afford to drink there.

Please do not take offense to what I am about to say but when people move here that brings more traffic. We have had a lot of people move here from all walks of life and that is what is bringing more traffic, commercial development, schools, etc...The small town feel was lost about 10 years ago when the influx of people started moving here. I am not saying it is bad because I am for pro growth. We used to have to go to Cary to even watch a movie. Now with the population increase movie theaters were built to meet the demand.

Now, I would suggest if you want to remain in a small town feel, you may want to try Meadow, Benson, Newton Grove, etc... You really have to go down I40 a ways now to get the that feeling. Mark my words but one day this area will be incorporated and when it does it will be larger than Clayton and Garner combined. This is not a small town.

Again not a personal attack on anyone, especially Gaby's Mom.

    no offense taken but...

to me this is a small town. I come from a place where there are over a million people in one city and God forbid they see a piece of empty land because they will build a strip mall!( and most of the store fronts will remain empty) I know what your saying about new people moving in causing traffic and I'm sure 10 years from now I will be griping about I remember when... In the short time that I have been here I have fallen in love with the area and feel a little (maybe stupidly to) protective of the area. One of the reasons we chose Willow Spring is because there wasn't a Wal-Mart, Target, (insert big name store here) in the area.

    Does that make sense?

Totally, and do I like to see the area explode? No, but I also like being able to shop in my back yard. I know what you are saying and value what you are saying and we both will be yelling in 10 years to stop the growth :)

I remember when Garner was bigger than Cary with a population of 8,000. This was ~ 30 years ago.

Did anyone see in the local papers an announcement for the meeting on Monday? This is one of the requirements for the rezoning hearing for Walmart.

Wasn't that area already zoned commercial?

The area in question is actually three zones and a special use permit is required for development. One of the requirements for the permit is public announcement of hearings, contacting residents within 500', etc.
