Maybe for you but it is much farther for those of us who live closer to McGees.

Either way, I will avoid the area.

    Here's your chance.

Okay, so it's too late for Walmart.

But-- if you want to voice your concerns to the CC on the mis-managed growth in our area, here's notice that 2 Public meetings will be held in November to discuss the Blue Ribbon Committee Report. (I want to confirm the dates with the Planning Dept, but they quickly mentioned them at the meeting Monday night) I believe one is going to be held at West Johnston High and the other North Johnston High.

The Blue Ribbon Committee Report is located here. http://www.johnstonnc.com/files/countymgr/blueribbonreport.pdf

The BRC Report basically votes against everything the Growth Management Committee recommends in managing growth. The GMC spent approx. 18 months coming up with a land-use plan. The BRC took 3 months to disagree.

As I've said before, IMO, I do not feel the BRC was a well diversified group. Check out the members, it doesn't make sense to me.

When the GMC presented it's report, the majority of people that attended the public meetings were Realtors, home-builders, developers, etc. A very small percent was residents.

We need more residents to attend these meetings and to write letters, sign petitions, make phone calls, whatever! Just be there to support others who voice their concerns or of course, voice your own!

I like growth, I like the conveniences it provides. But- not at the expense of horrible roads and traffic conditions, overcrowded schools, depleting our water supply, straining the EMS, Police, and Fire services, etc.

I will post more specifics and reminders to everyone. Please, be there.

Building one in McGee's makes more sense then building in the Cleveland area that already has two super Walmarts so close.

It's VERY important to me and I had to work. I couldn't get out of it as I was stepping in to help someone else also. Like harv, pure and simple I could not physically it.

Am I ticked? Absolutely! Do I agree that others get offline, get off their lazy tushes, and actually show up to a meeting to check it out? Absolutely. The County Commissioners will do whatever they want to us up here because we aren't anyone or anything.

Quit yer b&*chin' and do something already! Vote 'em out, lodge a campaign, lodge a complaint, call Pittsboro residents and see how to fight. They did an awesome job. Make a move to incorporate so that the Count Commissioners can't dump on this area anymore.

Take thier cash cow away from them.

Sure thing, new thread will be made. :)

Meetings are: (as quoted from Berry Gray, JC Planning Director's email):
The two so far are on Nov. 6th at 7pm at West Johnston High School and November 15th at 7pm at North Johnston High School. There may be two more scheduled in November but those have not been finalized.
