This is exactly what I have explained to my daughter for her wedding in about 20 years (tee hee). I let her know that a beach wedding would be nice and spending less on the wedding and honeymoon could mean mother and in-laws help with a down payment on a home. Grace
I would love for some (NOT ALL, AND I AM NOT REFERRING TO THE POST ORIGINATOR) of these engaged couples to spend half as much thought on the "marriage" as they do on the "wedding". The wedding is just one day, you have to live with them forever.
OK, new poster person...I got the band name... www.swagger.com is my friends son's band. They played at my friends wedding and are AWESOME!!!!!!!! I've seen them several times and different events and keep the crowd moving (perfect for a wedding)
I spent about $500 and it's lasted almost 17 years............I think I got my money's worth!:lol::lol: My Mom made my dress, family did the flowers and the food, we weren't old enough to drink and it was at a Baptist Church so it was a dry reception.
KDC, too right about the need for understanding the marriage part. My biggest peeve at a wedding reception is for one or both of the couple to engage in a cake in the face shoving. It is SO disrespectful, and I believe it bodes poorly for the health of the marriage. For the weddings I officiate, I tell the couples that I am marrying that if they feel the need to engage in this, that they'd best find another officiant. H6
I can't stand that either, tacky in my humble opinion. Whatever floats their boat, but I don't even remember the issue coming up for us. Who wants to see that? And what purpose does it serve?
I see it as a mater of mutual respect. If they have it and live by that, most things work out for the best. It certainly improves the chances of the marriage viability.
Harleygirl, Thank you for that link. I will definetly check them out! And oh yes...the cake smashing business! I know that some couples choose to do it, and I respect that, but I just don't think I could! My fiance and I agreed long before getting engaged that we wouldn't do it!
Computer-Impaired Okay Harleygirl, I somehow got lost on this website! I'm a bit computer-impaired. What is the band's name? A college degree and I still can't figure out the internet..haha!
New2Clayton, my cousin who was married over the past weekend used Mike from G105, the showgram, to DJ her reception. He did an awesome job.
we went to a wedding receiption last year at Cafe Luna and it was awesome!!! loved it!!! another place that is a good choice and I know it sounds random as hell is the Exploris Musuem that is right there near Cafe Luna. I have been to one there as well and have seen many as we have walked by to get to the imax theater. try them too!!!!
Harleygirl, No problem! At least I know it's not my computer skills...hehe. Garnergirl, What day of the week/time of day was the Cafe Luna wedding? I thought I saw they don't do Saturday evening. bummer! Oh, and the Exploris, that sounds fun! I'll have to check them out too! Also, thanks for the people who have sent me DJ information!
