Wow! Congratulations on your 8.5 lbs. That's a big # for only 2 weeks.

I've thought about Jenny Craig but I really think I need WW.

    Good luck to you!

    Hey Michelle,

me, elims, buena, and peekaboo (that I have met so far) all go to the Saturday morning meeting at the Clayton Women's Center.
It is right across from the library in clayton. They have just added a second meeting in the morning because it rocks so much.
The first one starts around 9am. The second around 10am.
Tonia is the leader there and she totally rocks at what she does.
    You really leave there inspired.
Hopefully we will see you there!

How have you other ladies done this week?
I have a cold that has my head so blocked up I think it is going to explode!
Other than that doing ok. Not much of an appetite though.

Been a blah week for me. My back went out, yet again, so I wasn't able to work out. And when my back goes out I definitely seek comfort in food, so I didn't make great choices. We'll see how it goes.

So much for what my doctor said about losing weight helping with my back. I've been in so much stupid pain. ARGH:banghead:

    hi framemama,

acai is the new fad diet that "everyone" is trying (supposedly celebs and the regular folk) Its commonly used in conjunction with something like everclease. It supposed to work by "clearing out" the stuff that you won't be able to lose with "exercie and diet alone." and give you more energy and suppress your appetite. I don;t know if it's a scam or not so i was wondering if any one here tried it. if they said it works then i might believe them more that just the internet reviews. ;)
I had $25 gift certificate hanging around from amazon.com so i ordered a bottle there with it. i just started it last night, so we'll see!

    If there's one thing I don't need it's a "clearing out"

I drink the acai juice every day, have for about a year now (2 shots in the morning). it does not 'clean you out' in the sense that michelle had mentioned. and just for the record, any kind of 'cleanse' is not the sort of thing where you can't leave the bathroom, have cramps, or any kind of abnormal disfunction. I have tried them all, in one form or another. It's just good for you, especially if you eat alot of processed foods (anything in a box or a bag). A cleanse can jump start weight loss in most cases and can be done every three months. The acai is not any kind of miracle thing...it's just good for you, it helps your metabolism naturally and it does seem to keep hunger at bay.

So in other words it's not the type of thing you take and then worry about getting on the bus and having it kick in?

  12. KellBell

    KellBell Well-Known Member

absolutely not. it's very gentle and normal and non explosive.

I see....I have never been too sure about the whole "cleaning out" thing. I heard one say that it cleans out all the red meat that the body can't digest, so it stays in the intestines. That is a really nasty thought. I ain't givin' up my steak though:lol:
I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, so I am not real sure what my doctor is going to do with me at this point.
I will find out what I have to take now, and see what kind of things will interact with it.:?

no cleansing method cleans out any one thing. its just a re-balance of your intestinal track and colon, since it get so abused by the food we put in our bodies.

    Thanks for your insights.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting to really "lose 14 lbs in 2 weeks!!" type of thing, but i do want to lose 20 lb by May and i have a very busy life so I would like anything that can help w/o damaging my health ;)
Where do you get acai juice? is in the grocery store?
I know this is slightly off topic, but since i'm on the topic of "alternative medicine" have you (or anyone else reading this) tried kava kava before?

I got my acai juice at The Vitamin Shoppe. They also have it at Whole Foods. I just got some acai tablets to try. It does give me energy to do my workout at the end of the day, even when its the last thing I feel like doing. I have not tried kava kava, but have heard all good things about it. If you do venture out to the Vitamin shoppe....those folks in there are easy to talk to and can answer any questions you have about anything.

thanks again. one more question (lol) where is the vitamin shoppe? I googled it and found the closest one to be in raleigh. just want to make sure that's correct.

yes, in Raleigh. Fortunately, I work about a mile from the one on Six Forks and Wake Forest....so it's super convenient. Once you go to one, get your information, then you can order your supplies online, if you don't come to Raleigh often. I would be willing to pick stuff up for you too....I do it for several already.
