I am not a priest, but I am a taxpayer! :? Or are you trying to CYA! if so pretend you did not see this.
Kent since one would really have to read this passage and understand. some might not know what you are saying here. I understand completely where you are comming from.
I think the point Hught is trying to make is that IF Kent is doing as he says on the job, that may not be legal. Personally, I enjoy Kent's posts, as I do many others. But if he was trying to convert someone to Amway on company time, ya'll would feel a whole lot different about it. Not that I am saying Amway is the same as Christianity, but you get my point.
> Christians > by Maya Angelou > "A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ > that a man should have to seek Him first to > find her." > When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not > shouting "I'm clean livin'" > I'm whispering "I was lost, Now I'm found and > forgiven." > When I say... "I am a Christian" I don't speak > of this with pride. > I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ > to be my > guide. > When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying > to be strong. > I'm professing that I'm weak and need His > strength to carry on. > When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not > bragging of success. > I'm admitting I have failed and need God to > clean my mess. > When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not > claiming to be perfect, > My flaws are far too visible but, God believes > I am worth it. > When I > say... "I am a Christian" I still feel the > sting of pain.. > I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon > His name. > When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier > than thou, > I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's > good grace, somehow!
OMG SS!!!!! You have made my day with this one!!! I am going to clean this up add some pics to it and print to have on my desk!
That's really nice - definitely words we all should think about. Thanks for posting that ServerSnapper. Nice to see your more serious side sometimes.
The Constitution does not specify exceptions for those "being paid by, and acting as an agent of, the governement".
The point is, the Constitution prohibits Congress from stopping Kent's practice of his religion. The Constitution does not prevent Congress from doing the same if Kent were selling Amway, unless Amway is recognized as a religion of course.
but hasn't religion on government time been ruled to be akin to endorsement of a state religion, as in the case of prayer time at school? or the ten commandments being posted in a courthouse in alabama? wouldn't "witnessing for jesus" while on duty as a law enforcement officer fall into the same category?
