Water into Wine. Well you know that Jesus' first recorded miracle was turning water into wine, just so he could keep the party going. LOL! This topic always stirs up the religious folks. Relax, its just a joke. Don't get your pews in a wad. Christians can have a laugh too.
Then you must be the only one. Ormly's agenda is to make sure C3 is a mainstay topic on this board for as long as possible. It's just another in a long list of tactics they are using to help pay for "Matt's Temple".
I heard a Pastor speak like that for 45 min. The rest of his "party time sermon" wasn't anymore insightful; 3 miles wide and 1/8 inch deep. A real "cotton candy" message. "Go Panthers"!! Certainly a real message for hurting people.
Ormly, relax my friend for a bit. We all need some joy in our lives. As for the "Go Panters" message - if that's all you heard then you missed out completely. You know what's cool about God's Word - two people can hear the same sermon and get something out of it that speaks to them and where they are at in life. The other cool thing is, since I volunteer and I'm at multiple services sometimes, I hear the exact same message each time and God will show me something new that I didn't catch the first time. God is speaking all the time, are we open and listening. God is in the worship and in the Word regardless if your at C3, Benson Memorial, 1st Baptist Church of ..., Methodist..., you get my point. When I am out of town visiting family, we'll go to their church and I enter worship with or without a band, with or without a hymnal. I receive some thing from the Word everytime because I'm seeking God and making myself open and available for Him to reveal Himself to me. God didn't call us to only attend church on the weekends to know Him. The veil was torn in the temple when Jesus died, symbolizing that everyone could now come directly to God at any time. We are called to seek and know God everyday when people are watching and when they are not. Relationship is built daily through the time we spend praying, reading His Word, listening to worship music, etc... We honor/worship God with our lives inside and outside of church. What some call a "Cotton Candy" church, to another is a life changing church. God calls us to judge things by its fruits. Just like other churches that God's hand is on - people's marriages have been restored, people have been set free from addictions, depression, loneliness, lack of purpose, sickness healed, new found joy. My life is 100% different since I gave my life to God and He changed me. That's the fruit that I look at. I praise God for all the lives that are touched and changed by all God's churches in our area.
Speaking of Cotton Candy churches.....what was the name of that Steve Martin movie where he is televangilist and performs "miracles"? Craig
Leap of Faith That movie was hilarious. That movie probably offended a few people along the way but we all take ourselves too seriously and need to laugh at ourselves every now and then.
Homework assignment - Everyone should go find some old pictures of yourself from 10, 20, 30 years ago. Look at your hair, your clothes, make-up for the ladies. Those pictures are probably pretty funny.
