Thank you both for the courtesy of your informative replies! Excellent info on the dates for the planning commission meetings addressing the growth of the county!

My husband and I (he more than I) were both publicly involved in the community where we used to live and although it's been quite awhile, I've considered getting involved locally, even though he has had his fill of public service which I'm shocked because he was so very good at it and a darned sight better than myself when it comes to diplomacy!:shock:

KDsGrandma: I've marked my calendar for the dates and am seriously considering taking you up on your carpool offer if you would have me.:?: Do you serve on any grass-roots committees represented at these meetings? If so, I would be keenly interested to hear more!

SSMM: I'm sad you had to sell your home to avoid the encroaching commercialism and wish I could have been there to lend my voice in support of your position when facing the developers! How horrible to have to move away from one's own home -- I could not imagine it and would have fought them tooth-and-nail!:evil:

I would be happy for you to ride with me, just PM me to let me know where to pick you up. Assuming you are somewhere in the 40/42 area or McGee's area, I would be glad to pick you up at your home or at a public parking area if you'd rather not give your home address to a stranger. I'm sure we can find ways to participate that will make a difference locally.

Smart growth

The Planning Committee report says that they believe growth is better than no growth, and they advocate smart growth. I personally agree with that statement, as far as it goes, but of course, the devil is in the details. Here's a web site devoted to smart growth:

according to one of the Johnston Commissioner there will be NO Six Flags in Johnston County any time soon and there is not proposed time, place or date. I am glad... too much traffic!

I have heard the same kfc/taco bell theres a thread on here some where about it. I wish it be something different coming. I did hear that waffle house was coming Bllaaaaahh I hate waffle house! I would like to see something thats not at 40/42 so we would have more choices.

I would love to see IHOP or Red Lobster or even

I know its the same thing here thats at 42 . Its not that far a drive to 42 so I don't see why they don't add different things. I would like to see a Dunken doughnuts . I have a thing for sweets lol I am currently eating M&Ms lol

My md said I need to gain at least 10lbs so I took that as I need to eat more sweets . I started eating more sweets 2 weeks ago and I haven't gained any but I am having a good time trying. He didn't say eat more sweets he just said gain 10lbs but I am taking the matter into my own hands. lol

 

There's only one donut place I'd be happy to see and that's Krispy Kreme...YUMMY!
