Clayton High School's track is always available after school hours. It's paved and there are other walkers and runners there.

Pavement kills my back and knees. These old bones can't take it like they used to.

anyone know of any rubber tracks? I find it hard to believe that high schools would still have asphalt surfaces.

I have gone crazy and signed up to run a 5K in October. I got it on the treadmill, now just have to transition to the outside.

I think I'd rather be outside (if I ran) than inside staring out the window.

If you want a partner, I'll *try* to run with you. I am making NO promises that I can make it more than 1 ft.

This is a nice track and it was just repaved. We ride bikes & jog there often. There is a path extension into the woods that loops around. It is a fun bike ride.

There is also a track at the large park in Smithfield near the high school.

There new Clayton Community Center is said to have an "elevated walking track".

    Happy running!

The part in the woods is not paved. I should have said dirt extension. You can still run back there but I would NOT go alone.

Yeah, there is just a small loop around the pond. Thing I likes to "fish" there. She puts the bait (a piece of bread) in her hand and submerges it, waits for the minnows to come and swoops up a handful. I think she was a bear in a past life. Smart girl.

Pkc - why not go alone?

The main road through my neighborhood is basically a big horseshoe. It's 2 1/2 miles around from entrance to entrance so it makes for a good place to run. My joints don't like it as much as they used to though so I usually walk it or bike it. For working out I go to the gym and hit the strider machine. I can get a pretty good work out on that thing in 30 minutes.

Plus I can look at myself in the mirror while I do it. Life is good!

  20. just sayin'...:jester:... Why do you think I workout so much?
