Maybe the 'training' is more like an internship? We stopped going to them a few yrs ago. They told me to 'just leave' my ins card w/ them and they'd put it in my bag when I came to pick up. I didn't really want to do it, but even the pharmacist said - 'it'll be fine'. Later when I went to pick up - guess what - they'd lost my card, acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. This was about the time that Medicap was opening - so we switched, never went back to CVS for meds. Now I use Target and Medicap.
I don't take anythign regularly, so I very rarely use a pharmacy. When I do, if I have time to get it at Medicap at 42 before they close, I like to go there. If not, I use Target at White Oak. I've never used Walgreen's, and I had a bad experience at the CVS at 42, so I won't use the pharmacy there anymore. Nothing medicine-related, just service related. I don't avoid all CVS pharmacies, just that one. I do buy non-pharmacy stuff there, though.
hate the CVS on 42, love the one one 210. Never used Walgreens because 210 is convenient. Also used both Medicaps (42 and 210) and no complaints with either of them.
speaking of Medicap - I heard that Lance's new restaurant is open for business. Its called Backyard Bistro - its where Damons used to be, by the RBC center http://www.backyardbistro.com/home.html
As Grinder said you are going to get so many different reason to use one over the other. In our family the wife uses CVS, while I use Walgreens. CVS ****ed me off one to many times so I switched everything to Walgreens and haven't had any issues what so ever since doing that several years ago. While in the past CVS either hasn't had enough meds for my scrips. or they just didn't have them filled on time, example drop a scrip off at 9 am tell them I'll be back at 5 pm and get tehre and have to wait another 45 minutes to an hour for the meds. that kind of service doesn't cut it. Walgreens on the other hand, has actually stopped filling call ins/drop offs and come over to fill my scrip while I wait when i had intended to just drop it off and come back. Craig
The CVS at 40/42 used to be HORRIBLE. The staff was rude & slow. I was furious one afternoon when I waited more than an hour to even hand them my prescription. It looked like the pharmacist was the one person working. The rest of the staff was chatting & sitting around doing nothing. While I was waiting an individual drove up to the drive-through and started honking his horn. I was shocked when a girl working in the CVS pharmacy handed the honking guy at the window a job application and told him to fill it out if he thought he could do a better job. The pharmacist asked the girls who were sitting around multiple times to wait on the customers at the counter, but none of them one do anything. One girl was actually sitting on the counter filing her nails. She told the pharmacist she couldn't do anything because she had to leave soon to pick up her child. I was furious!!!! Eventually the CVS manager came back to help with the line of customers waiting at the counter. The manager apologized and mentioned they had experienced some recent turnovers that had upset a few of the employees. After finally recieving my prescription at the pharmacy, I went to the front of the store to make a purchase. The same girl who had claimed she had to leave to pick up her child more than 1/2 earlier was sitting on the front counter talking with the cashier who was too occupied with the conversation to bother waiting on any customers. When I slammed my items on the counter, the pharmacy employee who was sitting on the counter asked if I had a problem - I replied yes and then mentioned that she was going to be late picking up her child if she didn't get her butt off the counter & get moving. I was upset enough to call the regional office that afternoon. The individual I spoke with said they were aware of issues at the 40/42 location and they were being taken care of. This was a couple of years ago. Since that time I have been happily using Medicap. The folks at Medicap have always been super friendly & helpful. I'd recommend Medicap at 40/42 to anyone.
yep, the one at 40/42 stunk big time when it first opened and for a few years, service stunk, staff were horrible to people, wait time completely ridiculous....then Lance and Jodi (who used worked there) opened up the two Medicaps (one at 42 and one at 210) and I haven't been back since!
Walgreens by far. CVS kept giving me scripts that were not good. Walgreens has it in their comp and never fill anything I am allergic too. CVS had it in their comp and still filled them. Thank God my DH always caught it, so I stopped going to CVS.
I'm currently switching from this CVS to Walgreens. They screwed up on my last five refills. Wrong brand... shorting on number of pills.. They gave me some one's heart meds instead of my birth control once. ..they've left someone's Medicaid card in my bag... the list goes on. I've had it.
Training center!... I wonder if that's what they are doing on 70. For the last few months I haven't seen the same people twice. ...hmmm..
I can't say which is actually better, but we have been using WalGreens in Clayton for the past 2 or 3 years and have not had a problem with them. I guess it all comes to personal preference, plus I have found you cannot lump them all into one catagory. I think it depends on who is working as to what kind of service you are going to get. One time you might get crappy service and another time you might get the best service ever.
Wow, I can't believe how many of you say you've got problems with CVS messing up prescriptions! Up until last month, we've had 5 monthly meds every month, not to mention the get-well meds that always seem to come up, and I've NEVER had a problem with them giving me the wrong thing, someone elses, whatever. They even call me when hubby's is running low to see if we want them to get it ready for us...it's a great reminder! It just goes to show, everyone is different...Maybe I'm just lucky!!! (doubt it)
I don't use either for Rx's. We get our Rx filled at Target because for every 10, we get a 10% off shopping day plus we usually get a $10 gift card each month in addition to other gift cards for purchasing with our Target card. In the past two months, we earned 10% off, received a $20 off electronics purchase of $100 or more, a $10 GC in the paper recently, plus $5 off Gain register receipt coupon. :hurray: I only shop at CVS for ECB items.
We also use Medicap for prescriptions (the one off 42) and Walgreens for everything else. Medicap is so quick, usually 10 minutes. I waited at CVS for over an hour numerous times when we first moved here three years ago. I can't say how they are now because since experiencing the wonderful customer service at Medicap I haven't been back!
Switched from CVS to Walgreens because I got really tired of having to wait 10 minutes just to be spoken to at the pharmacy counter in CVS. So far no problems with Walgreens, and I like being able to pick up a script at any store.
