Each church is different. Most churches these days have "new member" classes that they ask you to attend before becoming a member, so that is where that question would be addressed.
I understand that. I was hoping someone from C3 could respond to the question. Some say they are affiliated with Baptist some say no. I am woundering if they follow the Baptist Churches policy in this situation.
kaci ~ can't use the capial FF's...those are my initials for ForeverFaithful!!! :-( Have to use the small ff's.
answer to membership We hae a new members class which is called discovery 101 to learn more about the strategy and structure of c3, our goals, where we are headed and then u decide if it is right for you. We do not require baptism to be a member because baptism is between you and God and is a outwardly expression of being born again. But to answer your question- no you do not have to be "dunked" to be a member
In regards to the question they -C3 follow the Baptist background Per the Pastor himself In regards to being baptized. Their policy is discovery 101 then you have to be baptized to become a full flegged member & yes you have to be dunked. However, being baptized is a way of saying you are born again you have accepted Jesus as your savior. That is what we had to do to becomed members when we went there. Our family was already believers but that was the policy!!!!
C3 is a Southern Baptist Church, whether they admit it or not. If they are not a Southern Baptist Church, then why are they listed on the Southern Baptist Convention's website as a Southern Baptist Church? :? http://www.sbc.net/churchsearch/lis...ity=clayton&frmState=NC&frmZip=&Submit=Search If they have broken ties with the SBC then perhaps someone from C3 should tell someone at the SBC to take them off the website. I'm tired of hearing how they aren't affiliated with the SBC only to find them listed on the website every time I look. If they are ashamed of being a Southern Baptist Church, then don't be one... but get off of the SBC's website.
Why am I a troll? Just asking a question about the church. I am a person with very little faith, and I found it to be very interesting that a certain church was not wanted in the comunity. To be honest, I was surprised to find out that there was that much controversy over things like a coffee shop in the church. I may have been banned but GONE would not be a good choice of words......lol Glad to be back.8)
Yes we are part of the SBC but i dont recall us ever denying that we arnt part of it, Do we beileve we are a SB church ? No, do we have the characteristics of a SB? some yes. But many SB churches require you to wear 3 piece suit and stuff like that, At c3 we have the come as you are view. SB do many things we dont do, If you walked into a "true" southern baptist church on sunda with a t-shirt, shorts and tattoos do you think you would feel welcome? probably not, but at c3 anyone who doesnt know Jesus can feel comfortable http://www.newspring.cc/ This is a church that is also part of the SBC and they are an attendance of 10,000. And have the same view as c3. Matter of fact their band played a P.O.D at a service somthing c3 wouldnt do. They dont say they are SB but they are part of the SBC, they have SB background but thank God we are not bound by chain on the type of church we have that is why he is so Good we have the choice of where we worship and long as your worship the Soverign God
Aguywholovesc3 wrote Li-bratz wrote Thats taking the old expression "don't let one hand know what the other hand is doing "to a whole new level:lol: People, get together and get your stories straight before posting
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE DUNKED Not sure where she came up with the idea of u having to be dunked to be a member. Yes it is encouraged but if u dont want to then you dont have to as long as ur heart is right all baptism is an outward expression fo god in your life. Not sure how we can require such a thing. What are we going to do? handcuff you and throw you in a pool of water? No its between you and God not you and Pastor Matt or you and any one at church just you and God and if u dont want to then you dont have to. But again Discovery 101 is required to be a member only beacuse it discusses everything about the church. Again if you dont get baptized then we arnt going to ban you from church it is only encouraged not forced upon.
If I understand correctly, some churches recognize 3 forms of baptism: sprinkling, pouring, and immersion; the SBC recognizes only baptism by immersion. Some churches require a person to be baptised before they can become a member, but I take it you are saying that is not a requirement to join C3, am I correct? Different churches have widely differing beliefs on baptism, that is one reason (one of many reasons) there are so many different denominations. Some churches teach that you cannot go to heaven unless you have been baptised. Some view baptism as an act of obedience. Some churches practice infant baptism, others only baptise persons who are old enough to make the decision for themselves. An interesting thing about all this is that each one of those churches can point to the Bible, and cite chapter and verse, to "prove" they are right.
Right you are right, we believe that if you are ging to be baptized then it is by submersion(sp*) but we do not require it. Encourged yes. I know where you coming from when u say they all can qoute verse and chapter to side with their belfs but it is all up to interpertation, 3 people can read he same verse and come up with 3 totally different concepts from that verse, I not sure how but I also dont have no where near any or all the answers.
" If you walked into a "true" southern baptist church on sunda with a t-shirt, shorts and tattoos do you think you would feel welcome? probably not, but at c3 anyone who doesnt know Jesus can feel comfortable" I belong to what you call a "true" southern baptist church and I can guarentee that if you came in fully tattooed in shorts and a t-shirt you would be greated, welcomed and probably hugged. Some may take a 2nd look at you...that's normal and probably what you expect since you got the tattoos in the first place. Don't lump all "TRUE" southern baptist in with some of the "suits" at certain local churches. On any given Sunday you can see a "suit" sit right beside the "tattoos" or the "piercings". No one is perfect but we have been taught to love and welcome all who come to worship Jesus Christ, and those who do not. Here's my prayer for all of you...this is the Easter Season...if you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior please try to get to know Him. He will be a great friend at all times. As for this thread...I think it is dead and it "ain't gonna rise again" on the 3rd day. Happy Easter!!!!
I have always understood the Bible to say that God receives you the way you are but doesn't intend you to stay that way after you are born again. Ergo, allowing Him into your life should change a person, unless you aren't born again.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
