    Here's the homework:

I don't mean to sound arrogant, or whatever, but a little bit of gasoline goes a long way towards polluting a whole lot.

Well, I just hired someone to come out and handle this. These horrible creatures are swarming all over the area. I can't even let my dogs out on their own; I had to walk them close to the house on a leash. And I can't take a chance hubby will get stung multiple times again since I've read that he could have a severe allergic reaction this time due to the many stings he got last night. So, I'll pay an arm and leg to have it done (gas free I might add and the exterminator is also going to remove the actual nest once he finishes with the spray and dust he uses) but at least it will be done and safer for my family.

Hooray! They're gone! I was very impressed with the young man from TruTech who handled this. He used the combination of dusts I had read were most effective, also spray and then removed the nest from the ground. It was already the size of a ping pong ball! We were so impressed we went ahead and signed a contract to let them begin bimonthly regular service. They cover much more than the normal exterminators and we have had spider and mice problems which he can take care of. So, no pyrotechnic show tonight with hubby, gasoline and a match!

Careful with gasoline. If you go that way, make sure you soak the surrounding area and have a hose ready just in case. Evening is best time when they are in the nest and less active. Tell your neighbors too so they can have pets and kids inside. No lie.

I recommend the 2-person method, each with a can of direct spray. Test the cans and make sure they work before you start.

Also, just so you know .... yellow jackets mean business. They will chase you. These are the guys you've seen on cartoons that chase a character into the water and then hover, waiting for them to come up for air. Nasty nasty.

I had a nest of european wasps in a tree in my back yard. I tried getting rid of them with cans of spray but they just laughed. I had to call my pest control company, CHAMPION. The guy came out, smoked the nest which put them to sleep. Then he filled the hole with "juice" and stuffed a bunch of Wal Mart bags into the hole so none could fly out. He did it all while he was on his cell phone. He said I could take the bags out in 2 days but I was chicken. They stayed there for about 10 months. BEE careful!
