So i have had people tell me it is worth it to pay the extra for the cruise to be all inclusive including alcohol, do y'all find that to be true too?
What I learned is that most cruises doesn't include free cocktail drinks in your cruise package. It would be awesome if it's included. Also, I think Disney cruise is the only cruise company that don't offer casino.
KC, depends on how much drinking you want to do, I guess. Drinks onboard are not cheap. We've cruised and ended up with a bar bill at the end of a week of 35 bucks. I've also seen some people hammered before we even pulled away from the dock, so I guess they don't recall much of their first night and first sea day. I don't think for a second that you guys would be awash in alcohol, so I'm not so sure an all inclusive thing would suffice. For some cruise lines and resorts, the drink containers for the "prepaid" ones are smaller than those being purchased at point of sale. And, you can be prepared to wait for a while for refills. Based on my observation, the last containers to be refilled were the prepaid ones, as the bar staff gets tips on what they sell, as do the waitstaff. YMMV.
Most of the cruise lines don't offer an all-inclusive package, unless you go to a VERY upscale line, except for large groups (in which case everyone in the group MUST purchase it, or nobody can). Even with that, it's around $50 per person/per day, so you'd have to have 6-8 drinks a day to break even. Most of the people who are smashed before the ship even leaves probably smuggle their own booze on board.
Kaci...here is an all inclusive cruise from Carnival on the LEGEND...which is a great ship, I've been on it twice. It will give you an idea of what it would cost. http://www.genretravel.com/boozecruise2.html
I'm leaving for my cruise on Friday. We are going out of Jacksonville, FL on Sat afternoon. We've always done Royal Carribean or Disney and this time we are trying Carnival. My two sons and hubby, my parents and sister are all going and we are so excited! I will give you some feedback when I return next week!!!
I loved the Disney Cruise line. If you have kids that are in to the characters then that is the best way to meet lots of them. We had so many character pictures. My hubby wasnt too happy about the no gambling but when we get off the boat he got to play a little at the casinos. Otherwise, we had a great time and I would recommend doing that cruise. They are very expensive but seems like they are trying to give more discounts.
Disney we have been on lots of Carnival cruises pre-children, and recently went on our first cruise with the kids, which was a Disney cruise---we loved it--but our kids are little and are still really into the characters...I think if they were older, we might try for a carnival again...
