No, Catholics don't pray the rosary in mass, at least not on a weekly basis. Some might quietly to themselves, but it's not something that's done openly...But I think the frame is a great idea, since there will definitely be photos taken of the special day! A bible is also a great idea, or a children's book of bible stories is great too, my two oldest have one of these, and they love the short stories in them.

(I know you already ordered, just putting this out there for others who might be interested for the future)

Yes, you can still get savings bonds, my son just got one for his bday, some people we know send them to him every year. He's gonna be loaded when he's older, and he doesn't even know it!! (not really loaded, but a nice little start)

OK..I'm not Catholic. What are rosaries for? All I know is they have tiny little beads on them, does each bead represent a prayer for something specific?

Yep, you say a whole lot of prayers on them! Hail Mary's, Our Fathers, and I can't remember the last one (isn't that terrible?). I grew up going to mass every Sunday, but like I said, it's not something done in mass, so after I learned what it was for, I forgot! The small beads are the Hail Mary's and the large ones in between are the Our Fathers, I think, and then at the bottom I think is the biggest one, the one I can't remember. Gosh, I feel terrible now, I have 2 hanging up in my closet, but can't remember, I'll have to go look now and see!

When we moved here, we visited many different churches, and most of them were baptist. The only Catholic one around was in Garner, and hubby can't stand going to the catholic church, it's too much like work!! And since our kids went to Baptist preschools, and our friends are all baptist, we ended up going to visit their churches with them a lot, and our kids enjoyed their churches better, so I've kind of forgotten a lot of what I learned back in the day. Isn't that horrible?

Praying the rosary is just another method of prayer. You say certain prayers on certain beads. At the larger beads it's the "Our Father" and the smaller ones it is the"Hail Mary" Then there are place that represent the Stations of the cross. Which -have a name I forgot - but the represent pivitol times in the like of Jesus.
A common mistake is that saying a rosary is idol worship - or praying to Mary - the actual idea behind it... is to ask Mary - the mother of Jesus - to carry your prayer to his ears. THat's what the saints do. They interceed on your behalf so the the Lord may more readily listen to your prayer.
    It's a Catholic thing.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen!

Thats what 13 years in Catholic school will do for ya, LOL!

I will say if I'm ever in a scary situation or feel like I'm in a car that's about to crash, something like that, I do the sign of the cross. Just instinct I guess, but it's always the first thing I think of. Strange, isn't it?

Its not silly...when I see an ambulance with sirens on or a cop chasing after somebody...I always make a sign of the cross. My grandma will make the sign of the cross everytime we pass the church.

This is a good explanation for something that can be very hard to explain. This is also a good site if anyone is interested in glancing at it. http://www.rosaryshop.com/resources.php/request/introRosaries
