Hatteras6, you got it pegged!! Most of the store brands are made by the name manufacturers. They make if for Food Lion, Lowes, Harris-Teeter, Kroger, etc...just different labels for each store. I always find it humorous when people are so loyal to a store brand when it is the same from store to store, just different labels. And many times the manufacturer's brand is the same as the store brand also, yet people will have such loyalty to a name brand.

I am getting braver and trying more store brands... but single sliced cheese that WONT melt on my grilled cheese gives me the willies! I have to have Hellmans mayo and dont much care for generic soda.

Name Brand with double coupons at LF is usually cheaper than the store brand.

I don't buy too many generic products except for meds and maybe store brand canned or frozen veggies. There are a few name brands that I won't change.

    Tide detergent
    Downy dryer sheets
    Bounty paper towels
    Hunts Ketchup
    Donald Duck OJ
    Borden cheese slices

I also will use some generics but like Harley said, most of the time its cheaper if you have a coupon to be doubled or tripled  at LF. We always use brand in...Hunts Ketchup, Dawn dish detergent, and Ragu Pizza Sauce. Squire loves him some Diet Dr. Thunder from Wal-mart.
