Bus stop located at sex offenders residence

Which is a real shame.

 

Hate to burst your bubble, but they live in the boondocks too. You can't escape them. Child molesters are everywhere.

I hope you can get this resolved, I would hate for this to be an issue with my child. At least she is old enough to understand, and hopefully protect herself.

Two good points. If you can make a big enough stink then maybe they will pay closer attention to where other stops are located. And it does help that she is older and can understand the danger more. I have a 3 year old and all I have to do is put myself in the shoes of a parent whose child has been harmed in any way by one of these sick individuals I would be very, very angry.

 

Thanks for the warning, but since I was not referring to any one incident and made no threats toward any specific person, but instead referred to a hypothetical situation with a hypothetical offender I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I would not want to see anything bad happen to anyone else - even if I duke it out with them on here. So as much as I wasn't really worried about what I said I do appreciate that you were still looking out. Really. At end of the day we are all neighbors. And now I will move on from monopolizing this thread...

 

I agree, the stop should be moved by any means necessary. The girl is 14YO, not an elementary-aged child whose mommy stands and holds her hand while waiting for the bus. Maybe mom goes to work in the morning and is not even available to do that. The girl has a right to stand at a stop without feeling skeeved out or threatened. If Mr. Sex Offender does not want to feel persecuted, perhaps he should not have commited the crime in the first place. Yeah, he did his time but there is a reason that there are registries and laws in place - they tend to be repeat offenders. It is a sickness, not a quick crime out of poor judgement or passion.

Lol! I meant that she should move her family to the middle of nowhere, where there is no one for miles around. And I was being sarcastic when I wrote that. I never actually believed that by moving she could magically escape them. : )

 

To me, I liked it when my daughter found out because it is the way to see and understand items such as this so or I she can make a difficult define.

Since the law defines this school's boundaries we should follow the law.

So, it boggles my mind that any teacher would be demoted over statements.

In reading information regarding this, yes, this Liberal discussed this when my teen she was younger and I still do so that she knows what to do.

Another thing...some people registered as sex offenders had sex at the age of 18 with a 16 year old girl. Just one more thing to think about on this.

Where do they have this information because as far as I know you can only see what they were charged with and no other details? Somebody ends up on the registry they have done something wrong. Period. Not gonna spend my time doing loads of research to figure out what.

 

I will say this. In today's society this is considered taboo, however many folks just decades ago got married at 14 and 15 years old. What you are saying has some merit, but the law is the law and I think its usually one of those things that happens mostly when parents find out and are appalled by it.

Sherry, the only thing is that info isn't on the NC Registry and presumptious to even begin to try to figure out these 18 year olds that got caught up in the moment and prosecuted because of it.

Unless you get parental consent to marry, its still illegal and should be. It seems like a grey area but it isn't.

 

I would check the school board policy.

Wake Co. schools have a policy that no bus stop can be within a certain range of the residence of a sex-offender. Don't know about other school systems.

 

Other thing is that some people were wrongly prosecuted as well. I'm certain this fellow wasn't, but one of my best friends was. Someone got on his computer at work and got their jollies on. FBI showed up looking at all the computers and his was confiscated. Of course later, they couldn't really provide evidence, but his lawyer recommended he plead guilty to a lesser charge so that he wouldn't wind up in jail b/c he had a wife and daughter to consider.

What makes me sick ... is the guy that did it ... has no record and no one knows who it was. That means there IS a guy out there who did wrong things and his record is clean and my friend has a record and for the rest of his life will be thought of as a creep should anyone see his name on the registry.

I'm just wondering if you have heard back from WRAL or the Governer's office or the board or anyone for that matter?
Please keep fighting! You may help someone years from now that you never even know about, but the issue is an important one. The kids don't have a voice and need your ambition.
