My son was at the dance. When he was dropped off, there was no rain and no warnings other than a Thunderstorm warning. That is not unusual, so I let him go. No biggie. I think the school did a good job of protecting our children. What should they do, contact the media, get the parents on the dangerous roads and possibly cause more issues? I dont think so. The school is well built, im sure, and like someone else said earlier, it is probably more solid than some of our own homes.
My sons friend did use his cell phone while in the hallway and they were picked up before the storms really got bad. He said they danced for atleast 10 minutes before they were sent to the hallways. And from what I understand, putting them in the hallway is not a school choice, it is mandated whenever there is a Warning issued. So, I think the school did the right thing. And yes, they had to pay for the DJ - big deal. And the kids did not get their $ back - big deal. atleast we are all safe and sound. My 2 cents.......

I weighed my options that night as well. Go back and get him early...or...leave him there where I felt the building was even safer than our home. I left him there. I did go up there by 8:10 knowing the line would be long. God bless the principal. She gave up on her umbrella and was going car to car asking the kids names to call on the walkie talkie....soaked to the bone. I think they did the only thing they could do. As for calling off the dance early...we all know how unpredictable NC weather is. We are in a serious drought. Who would have expected a night like that.

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with her?I was treated so rude and disrespected by this lady.Im seriously thinking about taking my child out of CMS and putting them at Wake Christian. She is unbearable.I have called numerous amount of times over the last few weeks and have had no response from her.I didnt know if it was just me or was she like this to everyone?I think someone mentioned earlier that she was on a power trip...well I totally agree.

    Wow

When my son & I were on our way to the dance the warnings were coming through. Right before we arrived the report about a possible touchdown at Clayton Middle came on. At this point I parked and we got out to see if the school realized the new warnings. Others (I'm talking dozens of cars) were pulling up & asking Mrs. McLamb if she had heard the same thing, then they proceeded to DROP their child off and LEAVE knowing that this was all going on.
