No longer charges extra for parents to stay

Screamin' Mimi's no longer charges extra for stay-and-play. The reason that I was told for the initial extra charge was to ensure the security of the children. However, since there has not been any issue with any of the adults that have used stay-and-play, Mimi's has decided to cut out the extra fee. Additionally, they have started charging a different rate (less) for stay and play.

What are their acceptable age? What about Up and Away place?

I take my son to Up and Away all the time and he loves it. They also let him in on their snacks LOL. I am not sure what the current rates are because I have an anual membership, so I would just call and make sure.

    Screamin' Mimi's

Screamin' Mimi's accepts children from 18 months to 12 years. My children (2, 6 and 8 ) all love it.

What? To stop random adults (ie: paying parents) from being in the center with their children...? I hope that was some crap excuse they gave you. I'm not down with being eyed like a criminal when I take my girls out to play somewhere.

Another place DH took the girls to the other week was Monkey Joes in Cary. They had a BLAST! I think it was around 8 bucks for over 2YO and 5 bucks for 2 and under.

Wait a minute, isn't that the same price as drop off? The same price as when I talked to them last week and they said they would be revising the Stay & Play prices - since they were currenlty the same as drop off and they knew that was not acceptable? I'm not paying 22 bucks to watch my own kids play for an hour.

I'm sorry if that was confusing. Hourly drop-in rates are $12/hr for the first child and $10/hr for the second child. The package rates are the best way to go for drop in rates. However, if you'd like to stay-and-play, it's $12 for a visit (up to 5 hours) for the first child and $10 for a visit (up to 5 hours) for the second child. Therefore, it would be $22 for 2 children and parent to stay for 5 hours. You can pack a lunch if you like (just no peanut products please).

I thought I would try it today since it had been several years, but it was crazy. 25 kids, three adults.... and the toys were just ok. Nothing really that I didnt have at home. (some were broke, needed batteries, hmmm just like at home) Nothing against them but it was like going to a friends house with an extraordinary amount of kids. Just wasnt my cup of tea.

How old is your son, maybe mine is just too old.

Maybe it is better as a preschool, we were just board.

    Oooooh! Thank You!

I was like dayum, what a rip.

Kudos to you all on the peanut products! No allergies here, but good for you!

I already registered online, so we'll see you all on the next bitterly cold or rainy day.

What are they smoking over there! They have an indoor theme park right?

Up and Away stay and play was half that the last time I did stay and play.

And Monkey Joe's was AWESOME when we went in Wilmington. I just heard about it here. My kids played for hours there at the beach. Even as cool as that place was WITH paid workers supervising the jumping areas so the moms could chill out, it was no where near the highway robbery screaming mimi's is. But that's JMHO. 8)

Screamin Mimi's is having a big sale for a few more days. They are celebrating their 365 days in business so hours are only $3.65 each.

Did we ever find out what was going on?

Anyways, to add to my annoyance with this place.... I got an email from these folks today asking for donations of Gamecube, PS2, and Vsmile games. They also requested girls and boys pants, plus diapers and pull ups.... Why would they need donations when they wanted to charge me $22 to stay and play with my own kids for an hour? And shouldn't parents bring their own change of clothing, diapers/pull ups?

I don't know if it is still true but they were asking for donations in exchange for hours at Mimi's. A previous email from them said this. I don't know if they still are or not. Some parents just don't bring the extra's.

I would be happy to donate items for hours. You should call and confirm though.

Well.. I bet those parents would think twice about it the next time their child was returned to them in a wet diaper, or wet clothes. Maybe they wouldnt come back either, but who wants customers that want to take advantage of the places supplies (I know there are emergencies and extenuating circumstances..but for the parents that just seem to do it all the time...be real..) ya know??

Yeah! When my youngest was just potty trained (the accident phase) we would bring a whole bag with extra outfit and snack and wipes, etc. The would give us this surprised look. Made me wonder if most people don't bring the bag of extras. Those poor kids that would get stuck in wet pants.

I personally LOVE Screamin' Mimi's!!! This is however one of the few places my son has accidents (cause he is just too busy playing to take the time to go to the bathroom) and I always send him a change of clothes. That is just common sense to me.

Yeah, we love Mimi's at our house - without it, I'd pretty much have no life. We don't have any relatives or anyone that we can leave our little one with if my husband and I want to go out or if I need to go to the doc or just have some peace and quiet. We always buy our hours when they're on sale so they really aren't expensive. The kiddo loves that place, too - the potential of a few hours at Mimi's is a great behavioural motivator.
