Is there a way to add HTML Code to a photo link that will resize it on 4042 threads? It's a pita modifying the pic , then uploading it and then linking it in the thread to just resize it!!

I've tried all the change codes I know, and none of them work?

    Yes.

Don't remember how. Let me research and get back to you...

    Well, maybe I'm wrong.

I could have sworn that I have added images to 4042 where, as part of the image URL, I was able to add height and width tags like this:

    [IM G]http://www.desibucket.com/db2/01/29772/29772.jpg Height=100 Width=100[/IMG]

I wish I could do a 4042 search on just posts I've made where I posted images.

Sorry for giving you false hope.

My question would be, What's preventing those standard height/width methods, like the one you used above, from working on this site?

That fact that you're using vB code and not HTML code?

It's part of the forum (vBulletin) software. I've done some research and see that some forum software uses BBCode which does allow image resizing in the tag.

Just use photoshop and resize for web publishing.

While that will certainly work, in most cases the person is wanting to post an image from some other website. So what you are proposing is that the person

    1. Download the picture
    2. Resize it (no need for Photoshop, MS Paint would work just as well).
    3. Find a (free) image hosting site (like photobucket) and upload it.
    4. Link to the new image.

It would be much easier to resize in the tag.

It's not just 100 by 100 it's also the size of the file. A lot of people use crapbucket to post pics. Why does it need to be easy? Taking shortcuts is why he is posting this now! Study the process!

If you're "borrowing" the image as a link to another web site, the file size doesn't matter.

Of course it does. It doesn't just show the image from the link. It post that image into cache.

    Exactly.
"Easy" isn't the only reason I was looking for an alternative option.

The other inadequacy in the sizing process is redundant data storage. Think about how many bytes of redundant data are being stored in multiple locations throughout the net that could be eliminated? And then add the disgusting amount of down & up bandwidth that's consumed in the process! Now add the lost productivity aspect in time, and you have a reason to improve.

All fixed by simply developing an application that would resize and post an existing file from within the browser. Make it a Firefox add on?

If someone uses this idea I want to name it!!:jester:
